You would think so, but after a pay-for-charge phone call to StratFirst, and many emails to Stardock, they have basically said, "screw off", since you didn't directly pay us for a new copy. Doesn't seem right to me.

I have been playing this for about 6 hours straight. It is definitely fun, although slow to develop. I have a few questions that I can't seem to find answers to: 1) If I have a starbase with a resource of say +5 morale, and no planets that I own in that sector (a sector is the blue-lined/graph square right?), will it influence my entire empire, or nothing at all since the resource I built the starbase on had NO planets in the sector? 2) How do you determine what the shield
Hi. Thanks for helping everyone. To clarify, I have the serial #, but since the last guy used it under his email, I can't use it with my email, although I am the new owner of the game. I can understand anti-piracy, but I should be able to trade games with others (all legal, no copies I assure you as I detest piracy, and often debate this with "corrupt" friends/aquaintences) and use the serial code to update at Stardock, and not be the original buyer of the game. I just got this game in a trade from someone at GoneGold.com (a great gaming site!). Since I didn't buy it new, I have to wait for major updates!? Stardock and StratFirst say they can't help me. This freaking blows. Just because I didn't buy this game retail from a store doesn't mean I should be blackballed from frequent updates!
