It's a library from MS Visual C++ - I think to do with debugging. I've put a copy on my website http://www.alex-robertson.co.uk/msvcrtd.dll Note about 385k. Download into your galciv directory and it should fix the problem USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. Alex ~SDC~
They give me money and make me do stuff all day long
I know the feeling (it's nice being a teacher - long hols!) - but I can do it at some point in time more convenient. I'd guess you are on the other side of the world, so there's about a 12 hour time difference between us.... Alex ~SDC~

Cotal, If you let me have your IP address, I could run a scan across all your external ports - it might give some information.... Alex mail: mailto:alex(at)alex-robertson.co.uk ~SDC~ [Message Edited]

It's possible someone has got some sort of remote control software or trojan onto your system. Are you running some sort of firewall? How up to date is your AV software? Have you tried running the GRC "Shields up" routine - go to http://www.grc.com Alex ~SDC~
Did you try re-submitting
Yep - nothing apparently happened... I've since reused the savefile slots, so can't help further. I've vague memories that a couple of my planets went up to the high 30s with the enhanced terraforming + 15%pq ~SDC~
arobertson: are you using any mods downloaded from the library?
CDG Party pack JoB's tech trees (Improved terraforming and Nanotech) I thought the point was that the library mods were "approved" for the metaverse.... As I've said elsewhere, subsequent games (that haven't bombed out) appear to have gone up OK. Is there any way of removing the anomalous record from my multiverse records???
Would be interesting to read that article of yours.
I've found the article - a bit earlier than I thought - 1985, in issue 27 - and scnned it. Available as a pdf at http://www.alex-robertson.co.uk/rhyme.pdf Note a) it's about 360k and b) it was written in the relatively early days of RPGs Alex ~SDC~ [Message Edited] [Message Edited]
Since you are a low level dragonlord, I'll start you off with a faerie dragon
Arcrest is a low level mage - dragonlord is boolean, you either are or you aren't. [see my article in Imagine RPG magazine - issue 30 iirc - published in 1986 or thereabouts by TSR UK]. The only way to get fluent in truespeech is to get a dragon to teach it to you. [see Wizard of Earthsea - Ursula leGuin] Fluency in truespeech results in increased power to spellcas
