Teri, I see your point. But for me and maybe for those that are for the Hero/Captain addition, I feel like it would be a great addition. And I don't know why people still insist that just because I mention Heroes, people start assuming its because we want the game to become another MOO2. Say your playing Halo and they didn't have an assault rifle. Then someone mentions, man, "i wish they had an assault rifle." (and to help clarify it) "they add, like the assault rifle in ghost re

In the end, I and I think most gamers, just wants another persona in the game that is actually on our side. Even if its superficial, there should be others below them. Take any presidents or leaders, do you think they run the country on their own. Even the unknown leaders, they have people under them they know fairly well. Take Bill Clinton even. He has Albright and Janet Reno to order around. I can't see Bill saying, "Hey Fat Old chick, go to Samolia NATO and tell them so and
I agree.. MOO3 was a waste of $$ here as well. But just because having hero units would not make the game into MOO2. Similarly like Rise of Nations having Heroes did not make it into Warcraft 3. Still a totally different area. My proposal of Heroes and especially the Captains idea would not effect the gameplay much and even that. With the hero ideas, it would be similar in effect to finding an anomoly. With the Captain ideas, it will have no effect at all besides a little more
How bout this idea. Instead of Having Heroes, have only one and that would be your leader. Then have a bunch of captains ready to be placed. Or we can also forgo the Heroes until Expansion and hopefully have Captains instead. Now here's the big difference about heroes and captains proposal. Heroes can affect the game with bonus and penalties. Captains on the other hands does not, its a superficial addition that adds tremendous depths. The game mechanics already allows each ship t
GreyMouser, you have some point. But even when millions or billions of people, there is always a few that stands out. Like on this planet for example. There's 7+ billions of average joes. But, those billions know who Saddam/Osama/Hitler is and they also know the heroes, like MacArthur/Churchil, and George Washington. I'm not saying make the heroes so powerful they can swing entire battles, I doubt even George Washington would have defeated the British if the French didn't come to help or if
This game isn't in beta, file this crap under suggestions for somehting else. For god's sake between all the wishlist threads, and all the bug threads, there is no room for any real content on this board. Wow, does it really bother you that much that its getting your panties in a twist. Maybe you should file your comment under USELESS TROLLING
A good feature to add to this already great game is Captains. Now before you start yelling and screaming of balance issues and how we don't need the features like those found in MOO2, sit and listen to this proposal. The game mechanics already allows each ship to gain level. Now all that is needed is a superficial change to ships. I propose a Captains list where there would be a list of Captains with their own background story and statistics. Each of this captain can be
Noxins, thats a good way of seeing ships as heroes. What would also be good is if we can add a captain's image on a particular ship and give them a little background. So say for a particular ship, after so and so level, we get an option to customize that ship more by adding/selecting a captain's picture and writing a bit of background. Also some statistic would be nice like how many battles it has won and average damage it gave and recieved.

I agree Halla525, I wouldn't want a hero that changes battles dramatically. I'm for balance and if a hero gives a bonus, there has to be a penalty. Like for example, the great hero Bob of Earth. He is a viscious warrior who inspires fear from his enemies. When assigned in a ship, he gives a +2 bonus to weapons since he is very offensive minded. But in return the defense would be penalized by -2 since more likely to charge into battle disregarding his defenses. This same Bob of
Okay, just in case someone at Stardock is listening, what kind of features would you want your hero to have? Hopefully they can put the heroes features in the game and not on the next one since that'll be awefully close to 2012 and everyone knows the world is going to end in 2012. Not much playtime left.
The game seriously doesnt need them. I dont see a place where they would fit in, nor is Brad going to go out of his way to add a bunch of MOO2s features to his game. He has made it quite clear in his journals that hes not going to saturate the gameplay with what someone elses concepts of what a good TBS game is to please MOO2 fans. Again, plea
Hah, no. He said this on a blog when Galciv2 was still in devolopment to send a message to people that Galciv2 didnt need a bunch of MOO2s features to be a great game, and to stop pushing the stuff on him. Legato, instead of quoting what Brad said, why don't you come up with a reason why we either should have heroes or not. Unless of cou
Not sure if any of the dev is reading this, but I hope they are. Maybe we should start a petition to get heroes in the game. If enough of us are out there who wants this to happen, Stardock will comply. They have proven to be a company who is in touch with its consumers and that is something most company should be envious of. I will donate $20 to a charitable cause (A Legit charity group) in Stardock's name. Hopefully we can nudge them into putting heroes in the game and help out
I was thinking of how to pull this off using mod. A hero unit can just be a module (as Jen Dragon stated). It has to be a one time use and an image of the hero should be show when the ship is clicked. When that ship with the hero module is parked on a planet, it can give that planet some bonus and disadvantage (balancing purpose).
Hi, What program do i need to mod the movies in the game? I was thinking of adding my own movie event. Also, how do i replace the little diplomacy animation. Replacing the different race in the game really doesn't do much since when you contact the race via diplomacy, the old image is still there. Please Help
I enjoyed SC3. Not as much as SC2, but it was still a fun game. Especially the part that finally revealled the true nature of the Precursors. My favorite ship was still the humans.
How bout instead of arguing if there should be a GalCiv hero feature or not, lets discuss what the Hero units can and can not do or what type of heroes you will have. Personally, I would like to see the Empire leader to be a hero unit. That way, I can stick him (my self persona in game) into a ship and have him run around the galaxy kicking butt and still run my empire. But i'd be careful since if he does, I would personally feel the loss. Also, my economy/production/morale would t
back to the subject. For sure this game is a different entity from MOO series. Personally, I like the Galciv series a little bit more. But wanting a feature or similar feature is not such a bad thing. Besides, the developer stated that they do take into account what the players/consumers wanted. So if we want a certain feature, they would try to meet it. I wonder if we can get a response from someone at Stardock on this subject. (NOT A QUOTE THAT WAS A RESPONSE TO
Another quote from Brad: "Yes, and what I'm saying is that you're going to be disappointed. GalCiv has its own take on what space strategy games should be and it has a legacy and fan base that goes as far back as the original MOO as well." Well Einstein once said, <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center
As leader of my vast empire, I would stil like to have some heroes. Take for instance Franklin Rosevelt. Sure he was the all mighty leader of the US during WW2. But he still had hero units like MacArthur, Nimitz, and Eisenhower. I think hero units would add to the game. Take for instance of the alignment, if you hire a hero and his alignment is good while you just turned evil, he can always defect to another empire or steal a few of your ships/fleets and fight you. He can even
As much as i liked MMO 2. It wasn't finish. It lack the 3d graphics, forget about the fact that when it was release, it wasn't really in. They could've always patched it. So I think they screwed up there already. Also, the AI was pretty lame. I tore a whole fleet with the Gyro destabilizer. Also, the ground combat sucked. They should've finished it by making the ground combat a First Person Shooter. *ending sarcasm* My point is, if a feature you wanted is not in t
Those are freaking sweet... I think i just nutted myself
After reading through some threads, I found one idea that would be great. How bout having a Hero or Heroes in game similar to Master of Orion. Like every race should have one atleast that is their Leader. He can be on a planet which would give bonus to that planet or assigned to Captain a ship and that ship would recieve bonus. But say when the Leader Hero dies, there would be a moral drop for a period of time and a new leader comes into power, but the ruling political party would change since t
