I heard the 1st beta wasn't for much else than compatability issues with hardware and software, maybe the new gui isn't in there yet. I want to see what it looks like but i'm not a microsoft subscriber and I'm not paying 200 bucks for the beta
I ran into a few skins that would show me the large image and not the thumbnails, hard telling which is worse.
Some of the extra buttons get to the point you don't know what to do, the 3 on the side I use for alt, ctrl, and shift. Those help me a lot in apps such as photoshop and the like, as well as moving files around. Others I often have such as tab, (alt+tab on the mouse can be handy) and combinations like Ctrl+m, things like that can be pretty versatile. I wouldn't call it fine art, but it's definetly a form of art. If it wasn't about an aesthetic appeal we'd all still be using luna But skinning obviously has more to it than just looking pretty. Although I wouldn't call someone an artist JUST because they are a skinner.

I liked longhorn, besides if Apple can have 50 different kinds of cats for 50 different versions of the same OS, windows should be able to have some bull.
If you used something like desktop X or Avedesk it would be easy to make an item like that, I don't think thats an option windows will give by default.

Make all icons, cursors, pretty much the entire gui able to be customized and edited by default as normal as you would a wallpaper. And give paint more than 16 colors.
