I hope the data mining goes even a little deeper and more "meta" (or may in the future). Like how many times you have died and reloaded (hmmmm .... the Pkunk if they are to be found now or in the future could see this as a "resurrection" or a similar alien) , how often you save, how many ships you have created in the ship builder, favorite weapons used, time spent talking to specific races etc ...etc ...

I just got back into PC gaming in August, after around 12 year break. (I went Apple for video editing, with the decline of their pro machines and never really liking Final Cut X, I decided to move back to PC.) So I have been on a massive re-introduction to the video game world. For whatever reason No Man's Sky does not interest me. Star Control (Bought the Beta right away), Star Citizen (Invested), Dual Universe (Plans to Pledge), Starflight (Pledged) and Elite (I want to

They disappeared when the Orz appeared (After SC1, before SC2.). We never really learn their fate. (Or much about them as a whole) Most believe the Orz wiped them out, but I have always found that too simple of an explanation.

The Androsynth, I know the Androsynth are technically in "another universe", however around the time in Origins is when the Androsynths decided to revolt. I really hope the game goes into this. This was around 2085 which I guess the Androsynths revolt could have lasted 3 years. I hope the game at least makes a sub-plot dedicated to them and what happened.
So while most people will be new to the series and some people who see our promotions seem to think Star Control:Origins is a “copy” of Mass Effect or Spore or NMS, others can point out that the Star Control games predate those games.
Totally copied off Starflight!! [e digicons];P[/e] (I love both franchises for different reasons.) Sorry, I am getting restless waiting for the 20th ... Yes

While planet based exploring is an integral part of Star Control, I never saw it as a main draw. (Versus Starflight, which felt vastly "bigger" in that regard and more "things" to discover planet side.) Star Control always seemed to be more about interacting with the Aliens. By the looks of it, you guys hit the right balance between the 2. Question, does the star color have an effect on the look of a planets atmosphere, or do they all just emit "whit

Everyone is "Alan Bradley!" and I am all "Oooooooo! Oh! Workbench 10.0!!!" Someone was/is an Amiga fan! Well played. I am liking this alternate universe already! (It took Commodore long enough to get to 10.0 though ...) For the Youths out there ... This was Workbench 1.3 for the Amiga 500/2000.

Next paycheck I will back! Oh, and with the Amiga version, I actually got the Red Herring artifact back to Star Port. It is like one of my favorite all time achievements in video games. The secret was to drop a negative amount of a mineral out of the terrain vehicle, (it let you type the amount leaving a negative amount on the ground.) Then you drop the positive stuff, pick up the negative on the ground. Thus giving you more space in your ship and terrain vehicle. Then you can

I personally would like to see an upgrade path. It sinks you die ---> Floats ---> Submersible. I also don't want to cause any extra work though. Imagine all the stuff that could be hid under the ocean!! Heck, if it is "a half way through the game quest" to get a submersible upgrade, you can time when a player finds certain item/artifacts and save certain things for end game this way. I know the game is in late development . Maybe a future side quest somewhere for DLC. <b

5 days ago I just got rid of my 10 year old Mac Pro Tower and went back to Windows. (Almost went Linux.) I needed a good video editing machine and I could no longer wait on Apple to release a true work station computer. Then I realized I could actually play video games again! I did some research on modern space games that are/coming out. So long story short Star Control Origins is the first game on my rig. Just good timing. I always like being in a community at/near the beginnin

Also, to add on to this: When rotating and/or offsetting on the sliders. There should be a “Zero” button for each slider. So you can easily reset the slider to zero. Also just for rotation, a -90 & +90 degree buttons. Trying to get that exact 90 rotation is a pain. This would save tons of time when creating a ship. (And an overall reset button, zeroing out all the sliders on any given object.)

It is all about the suspension of disbelief and keeping to the rules that have been established in the fictional universe. I am willing to accept a lot of unrealistic rules with magic and sci-fi technology. However, once you break your own rules without some sort of believable explanation, you've just ruined the fantasy.

I just finished my first spaceship build, here are a quick few suggestion to make things a little more user friendly on the ship creating side. -A simple arrow on the grid pointing which direction is forward. In the beginning of a creation, I got confused a few times. -Also on the grid, mark the boundaries of a Large, Medium and Small ship size. I did not know how big to make the model. -Let us copy parts that have already been placed. &nb

18 years in the making!!! Ok, real life backstory. Around the year 2000, I wanted to design unique looking star ship for my own sci-fi universes, game mods and such. Something "cool" looking, but different enough from the standard looks of ships. Something unique and identifiable. I drew inspiration from various sources, the White Star from Babylon 5, the Millennium Falcon (I wanted it sligh
