@Basj I did some searches on answers.microsoft and found that Themes and Related settings controls the background color of the screen (among other things), regardless of the version of Windows 10. Apparently Fences has nothing to do with the background color. CellistPhil.
@Basj Any reason you're not updating to latest Windows 10 version? Fences V3.1.3.x is best running with latest Windows version. I schedule an update about once a month, or sooner if Windows Update settings nags me. It hasn't been near a month, but I went ahead and did an update this morning a
Windows 10 version 2004 (OS Build 19041.1237. Fences version 3.1.3.3 The reason for the re-boot is not related to Fences. I mention it as a potential clue to what might be happening. Thanks for your reply. Cellistphil.
After a reboot, the desktop background is black, not the bluish background that is was before. The fences are all there, but they also have the black background. Perhaps this is a Windows desktop configutation issue?
I give up. You win. My only recourse is to write a letter; maybe I'll get a response from corporate.
@basj Hello, Please try disable "Auto arrange Icons" and set Sort by to "None" on your Desktop right click menu. Do that and report back. <s
I purchased Fences a couple days ago, I have a license key. Does that entitle me to support? My issue seems to be a relatively fundamental function that should not require a deep-level knowledge of the software. I don't mean to criticize or disparage the community support, but the issue is really making it difficult for me to use shortcuts that I was totally able to use before installing Fences. Do I need to open a ticket and if so how do I do that? Thanks. cellistphil.
I ran Purge_Fences.bat and Fences is still not totally uninstalled. My immediate issue is that my 100 shortcuts are all pushed to the left of the desktop and I'm having trouble finding ones that I use a lot. I had them more-or-less grouped in clusters that set them apart from the less used, but Fences re-arranged them.

After I installed OBJECT MANAGER/FENCES only 35 shortcuts are shown. That's less than half the shortcuts I had before installinng FENCES. I'd like to get them back.
