You can't undercut the retail price and expect the retailers to just smile and take it. And you can talk about profit per unit sold, but at the end of the day having those pretty boxes on store shelves generates a whole lot more sales than they'd get through this website, so making the retailers angry would be a bad thing.

The background color of my avatar is the same color as the background in the GC1 site. I should probably update that, too. Most of the "credit" you get for posting comes from people knowing and remembering you for what you've posted. It's kind of hard to carry that through a name change regardless of the technical aspects.

Is it too late to make a suggestion for scoring in the Metaverse? I never liked the fact that submitting a game could sometimes bring your score down. This happened because every score in a 30 day block was devalued based on how many games you played in that block. How about instead of doing it like that, just devalue the later games in the block based on how many games came before them? That way the law of diminishing returns is still in

If you have the CD, you don't even need to enter the serial number to install the game. You only need it to submit scores to the metaverse and download the bonus pack and such. If your computer dies and you lose the CD and you need to re-download the entire game, you'll need to have registered your serial number for that as well.

As far as I know bases will extend ship range just like they did in GalCiv1. You wouldn't be able to build colonies like you could in GalCiv1 anyway, since the useless worlds in GC2 are completely uncolonizable, unlike the Class 1 worlds in GC1.

Hm. I was under the impression that the Strategy First fiasco ate up most if not all of the profits, since they only got paid for copies purchased directly from their website. Or maybe it was AP financing GC2? I forget... Frogboy, how about posting a detailed report of all your company's financial data? How about we include "tactical" combat, but limit it to what the game mechanics currently allow? The AI stil

I think making money is one of the major goals of GalCiv. They just haven't managed to do it yet. I'd actually never heard of MoO until I heard it discussed in the GalCiv forums, but yeah, GalCiv is basically a Civ game (obviously). I don't see how they've managed to not get accused of a trademark violation.

Remember that one episode of Weird Science where Gary wished he had a remote control for life, so he could fast forward through the boring parts? I kind of wish my life had a fast forward button. Then I could skip over all those weeks and months where nothing good happens and go right to the in

I didn't see it in the stickied FAQ, but I KNOW I've seen Frogboy say that Wal-Mart would only be carrying the Collector's Edition box. Also, they're planning on keeping track of the serial numbers of all the copies that go out in the first run, so if people don't get the collector's edition they'll be able to give out the extra content based on that. They've said they're going to give the extra content to everyone who pre-orders the game, and I'm pr
