Moore13 - top left and top right is a dx object I am working on that scans the system to enumerate existing drives then allows the user to configure which of those drives to display a representation of on the desktop. When it's all finished I will upload it to the dx object library and claim my shiny penny!

danillo - if you go into the desktopx install directory and find the 'docs' folder, you can make a copy of ScriptingGuide.pdf and rename it to ScriptingGuide.doc. Make a shortcut to this somewhere handy and it should open up in word (that's what I have done and it works ok for me).

Take for example "presets", yeah....the models and shapes you found and use do make good art...... you can give 2 people the same palette of presets - it's entirely possible for 1 person to create a work of art and for the other person to create a pile of... er, well, you know <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/lol.gif" border=0

Skins are not strictly 'art' as they can and do include specifics of 'design' which in itself is not 'expression' as such. I see your point however I think it's up to the skin author to express themselves within the constraints of the design.

Thx Chickie - I can verify that the GT2 visual style is indeed a rip, it seems likely that the other one is as well. A pretty crappy "port" by the looks of it as well I have sent a polite email to the themexp.org webmaster, we shall see what will transpire... Thx again for pointing it out <i

wulfn1 - you're sort of making it sound like it's an either/or situation. I seriously doubt that being given the opportunity to upload premium skins for sale will stop any skinners from releasing free skins as well. On purely practical grounds the artist would need to offer up free skins to maintain their connection to the community, attract new customers to their premium skins, generate goodwill etc. If you're speaking of advertising then the best way to advertise is to offer up free skins for

#8 by I.R. Brainiac - 7/23/2004 1:27:02 PM I still cant figure out how to zip toolbar icons....I gave up...if people want them, they will just have to dl one of my skins I just did exactly that funnily enough - Rogue Proton Blue. I thought what you did with the logoff/shutdown "buttons" on the start menu was pretty cool <img src="http://images.

When you want the substyle to have a different start menu, after you create the new substyle you need to click "taskbar" in the navigation tree in the left hand side of the window, then over on the right click on the word file, and then below, in the "value" text entry field you can change the name from the default (XPStuff.xp). I ran into the same problem myself with my first attempt at making a compact substyle, much cursing was there verily in the house of Tiggz that day. <img src="h

hehe, 99% finished, a few more elements to skin and then a few days of tweaking and checking for the usual cavalcade of unexpected bugs

is this a new object you have created or one you have downloaded? I just created a new MS web browser activeX control on my desktop to test it out. When I pressed ctrl and clicked on it, the handles appeared and I resized it. There was no black background - just the control itself. You could try locating the object in dx object navigator and editting its width and height directly from that view.

I never knew installing software could be so dangerous, I shall have to include a disclaimer in all future posts in threads of this nature at least you have a nice new shiny dx setup to play with glad I could help and sorry about the ankle <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/joke.gi

Save your current theme if you haven't already done so, then backup your Themes and Objects folders. If you use iconX and have saved configurations for that you should backup your presets folder too. Everything should then be ok to uninstall dx and delete the dx directory just to give yourself a completely clean slate. Unfortunately there isn't a way to solve the script error situation other than having the latest version of dx - the error code says it all: "Object doesn't support prope
