...and if it doesn't fit, get an enourmous great big hammer...

lol, you could be right there dude...we are like Egyptologists trying to unlock the secrets of mysterious artifacts
/me contemplates cracking a "bran keeps you regular" gag but thinks better of it...
you can use Band vwm within an objectbar which you can skin as you please, so at least the container for your vwm can intergrate nicely with your chosen theme
I sorted most of my troubles - discovering that drop down menus have borders was a good start. Documentation for SkinStudio is sorely lacking in detail methinks...
/me signs in o/
Sorry for not making myself more clear Chas - I simply meant that as well as the configurable recycle bin bmps that overlay the background bitmap some skins have references to the recycle bin "hard-coded" as it were to the background image itself. For example, you might draw a background image with various containers for all your relevant sections such as time/system resources/email/recycle bin etc etc, and you might choose to include titles for the sections in some manner drawn onto the back
you rascal
lol @ me, didn't check the "show pre-release versions" option in the view menu of sdc o/ I still need help configuring these darn menus tho, especially the text overunning the edge of the drop down menu/overlapping the keyboard shortcut issues...any ideas? ...anyone?
I registered skinstudio (along with the other programs in the object desktop package) and updated my unregistered version thru Stardock Central, but it's only 3.0.0.8 or something - maybe I will try uninstalling and reinstalling not sure I do understand your "glitchy" painting, but thx for the effort are you saying small is beautiful? <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/bigsmile.gif"
%$£*!&£^$%£!!! Hi all o/ I'm currently attempting my first WB skin, using SkinStudio (registered), and mostly it's going great, but... I'm having endless hassles with the drop down menus, I keep tweaking and fiddling but they never seem to come out right. Specifically: I'm finding that unless I use really teeny fonts some of the items don't fit into the background and some of the items text overlaps with it's keyboard shortcut. Also, how can I configure the c
The problem comes tho when there are references to the recycle bin in the actual bitmap background itself, which is (possibly) what is stumping Bushman, in which case the only recourse is to edit the background.
woah there dude! I'm fairly sure that Bushman is only referring to sysmetrix when he talks about removing the recycle bin. He's a bit cautious when it comes to bitmap editting so let's try not to alarm him with talk of creating his own operating systems.
the sound of my dog rather noisily munching his dinner
on a side note, is it possible to use Adobe Image Ready to create the bmp strips? I had a go this morning and couldn't figure it out... if not I want to thank XX for the link to Bitstrip, as I did manage to work out how to make animated gifs
main above, playlist below - I'm a minimalist
/me pimps his Yellow Submarine gag and thinks perhaps he should have said "hunt for Red October theme" instead...
hehe, yeah dude - tbh the only one of the layer styles I even vaguely understand is "normal", and I suspect even there I'm deluding myself
hope this isn't poaching the thread but as a new skinner as well, using photoshop principally, I'm extremely ignorant about things like dodge/multiply/screen etc which I saw u used in your glass sphere tutorial, simple techniques which produced a fine end product in very few steps...to a photoshop noob it all sounds like ancient Greek. I can follow the steps but don't really understand all the processes and so can't adapt and apply them to other projects... I ramble, excuse me...basical
fair comment Koasati hey, I'm a noob, not up on all the jargon, been skinning fully 2 weeks! at first I thought a subskin was some kind of Beatles theme
dude, don't give up so easily, use this as an opportunity to learn some image editting - which you will need to do when you get round to making your own skins. I's like anything else, a bit daunting when you are completely new to it, but you slowly pick things up. If you make backups first then you have nothing to lose by experimenting. dunno if you knew but you can find the themes/bmps in the sysmetrix installation directory - usually C:\Program files\Sysmetrix\Themes give it
I'm not only interested in the answer, I'm also interested in the question... it might help if you can clarify what skin you're talking about in particular - WindowBlinds or Sysmetrix or A-N-Other-App etc
