I do like the new layout of the tech tree in gal civ 2. However, there are two conviences that I think would be of great use. 1.) When in full tech tree scan mode, it would be nice to be able to scan all the way out and get a better feeling for where you are looking at the tech tree. Right now I do allow of pull scrolling back and forth to find the tech branches I need. 2.) It would be very useful if the tech tree allowed you to click on each tech, bring up what if offers

I loved gal civ 1, but teh combat was always unsatisfying. Additionally, it always seemed a miltary strategy was an all or nothing thing early one. Usually I would simply hold tight till the end and tech up , then switch to military campaign once I had better ships. Now however, simple ships are effective, combat plays out much better and is far more intruiging. I also like the fact that the customiziablity of the ships gives so much control over how your empire expands martially. <br
I pre-ordered Gal civ 2 to ensure getting the special edition. I really don't carry about the box, but the extra goodies and tech map were appealing. After being 4 days late, EB games finally got my pre-order in. It was NOT the special edition. Fortunatley, the great people of stardock have allowed the the first run copies of the stnd version to still download the collector's edition stuff. However, I am still out the tech map. Frankly, I am just happy to have the game, but I did thi
well, I will give EB till 5 today to get my pre-ordered copy to me, otherwise I am shelling out the extra 10 bucks to buy and have it shipped from Stardock directly....... Must Play.... Midterms over..... Need release... Destroy galaxy!!!!
I pre-ordered Gal Civ 2 several weeks ago from EB expecting them to have it by the 22nd, 23rd at latest. However, still no luck. I guess they may have it in tommorow or saturday, but I am getting impatient! Is it too late to order online and still get the nifty ship bits and get a collector's edition shipped?
Lived in Texas for 4 years. I was so happy to see El Paso in my rear view mirror as I left. For logos, is it ok to use flags from intelluctual properties like Star Wars? Also, if you got a Strongbad logo, is there any hope of a mighty Trogdor logo?
lol, same here. Got a nasty midterm for my particle mechanics class. Need to study, not play..... not fair....
No tactical. Eats too much time and doesn't add to the strategy element signifigantly. Besides, generals don't fight the small battles, the individual troops do. Generals tell where and when, the coherant strategy. You have to rely on your ships/troops/etc to carry out your orders. From a strategy point of view, adding tactical control doesn't add alot to the game, but eats ALOT of time. Off topic, not all galaxies are disk-like. In fact, many of the largest are ellipitical galaxi
In gal civ 1, if you put a third of your spending towards miltary manifacturing but were only building in handful of bases, you still spent teh full amout as if you were builiding everywhere. There was no incentive not to have some cheesy item being built on those other colonies, since you were wasting credits otherwise. However, it seems that if only half my planets are cranking out military projects, either they each get more money and thus produce faster at those planets while the
Sweet. What exactly is the range of influence for a starbase in gal civ 2? When you plant one, can you see their influence range, or is it confined to a single grid square like in gal civ 1, regardless of where it is in that grid?
I noticee that in a few games in gc1, I would get painted into a corner and couldn't reach my enemies at times since my ship range was limited. I was wondering if in gal civ 2 if bases could be built at range to extend the range of my ships, or do I have to make colonies to do this?
So note to self, If I go heavy on trade, make sure I get that tech as soon as possible, check....
Trade is often the lifeblood of any civilization. In gal civ, this was especially true. It also meant that frieghters were the first victems of war. I always regretted the lack of ability to have a "escort" for my freighters. My question is if a escort ability has been given to combat ships so they can group with and protect my precious frieghters. If not, any chance it could be added later?
In gal civ one, cheat code use just zero'd the score. So you could use em, but it wouldnt unbalance the metaverse. Who is going to submit a big fat zero score. My guess is that use of cheat codes will do the same here in gal civ 2.
I was curious if a decent spy program in gal civ 2 would occassionaly render stolen tech or if it was only information on other civs . I noticed in the first game capturing a planet would often render a tech, but spying never generated the same benefit. I vaguely recall an event saying that a minor race had stolen anothers tech, but not positive. Just curious.
While I though the addition of the United Planets council in gal civ was great, I was always mad that I had zero control over proposals. I though it might be a nice feature to be able to suggest the proposal to be voted on, even if it was only occasionally. Any chance of this in the release or future builds of gal civ 2?
One thing I missed in Gal Civ 1 was planetary defenses. In MOO 2, I liked the fact that you could develope a starbase and planetary defenses so your planet wasn't defenseless, but I could focus on a peaceful tech strategy. In gal civ 1, you had to rely on ships not only to protect your planet, but you had to rely on them to protect your starbases. I was wondering if gal civ 2 is putting in static defenses for planets?
