Told you so before the last election.... But some people take longer to see the truth, unfortunately.

I remember studying in American History how the "Spoils System" was assumed to be the standard through the early 1800s, when it was finally eliminated and people were given posts based on merit. Now we're set back 200 years, right back to the "spoils system"... (for ref, the spoils system was the system where important posts in gov't went to whoever the winner felt like, as a reward for being a good supporter. In Bushevik terms, someone who was "loyal".... ).
You can waive your constitutional rights in a contract. The government does not have to accept you into the armed forces, nor do you have to enlist. You can choose to give up every single freedom if you like, there's nothing against that. Also, military regulations are NOT laws, they're rules of conduct that apply to those who c
Lotherius - ok so which of those two quotes is the right one? Notice the "not" in the second statement? That means - fi what they posted is NOT malicious and it is NOT overly revealing of company secrets, then they shouldn't be fired unless there was a clear policy otherwise. Negations change m
I'm very anxious for some WindowFX work... there's still major compatibility issues with a number of programs (constantly have to exclude apps), as well as problems handling drop shadows with rounded corner windows.... I'd love to use it, but it's simply more trouble than worth at present...
Naw, just stake it in the heart and then cut off it's head! You mean.... *gasp*... Post it to Slashdot?
Try that out when someone releases company secrets of yours! "Oh I didn't do it "maliciously" or "too much"! Be real. As for the ignorance defense see above. I didn't mean for "malicious/over realing" to be an AND operator. I intended an OR operator there <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles
As far as the stewardess - their issue was photos from the workplace. A lot of workplaces have rules against cameras. I've actually even seen a fast food place call the cops on 2 customers who were having a birthday party and refused to put away their camcorder. The issue is not someone being fired for bitching about their boss's monkey fetish - that to me (and many) would make perfect sense. It is when people are canned for simply mentioning
I think it can be killed. But it might require subterfuge.
I've created a very simple system tray object. It works fine as an object. When I export it as a widget, and then execute the widget .exe, it comes up blank (no systray items shown). Yet when I *re-import* the widget back into an object, it works again. There are no related objects - this is all with only the single object listed in the lister - nothing else. How can I get this to work as a widget?
Of course, if you had patented all the stuff in OD back in 1995, you'd be much wealthier today. And patenting the obvious is where the money seems to be at in software these days, not true innovation.
Frogboy said: A skinner with Master access or higher could submit their skin as WC subscriber only. For the first 30 days after release, it would only be available for subscribers (after that it would be available to everyone). In exchange, those skins could receive special promotion. In time, as the site's finance
Ima gonna hold onto my Tungsten E fer a long time, looks like. I don't want Windows in the palm of my hand, because I don't want to have to deal with Windows type problems when I'm trying to get real work done.
That seems strange since most downloads are in the first three days. I am sure you guys have your reasons but it escapes me. Not meant as critisism, just curious. A decent windowblinds skin will get about 10000+ downloads the first week. That is alot of people getting something for nothing. Maybe you can give away 10 m
Okay, I see a bit of confusion here... A lot of people are forgetting there are THREE main levels, NOT TWO. Some are dividing it like this: Subscribers / FreeLoaders. They're forgetting that really it is this: Subscribers / SD Customers / Freeloaders. IMHO freeloaders are freeloaders whether they have an account or not. But as Brad says, they're easier to track with accounts. I do believe, however,
I saw on another thread, though posting here to avoid scattering out ideas about wincustomize too far - that someone was mentioning that Brad doesn't like when people see WC as just a "stardock service". I'm sorry, but that's what it is. I'm a former Object Desktop subscriber, and will be renewing as soon as I have the money. I also have bought some other products from SD (OD+ and TotalGaming when it was Drengin). To me, WinCustom
I still see the google ads. That's because they're unobtrusive enough generally that I have actually removed google from my adblocking software/hosts, etc. That isn't to say of course, that I ever actually click on them, which is where revenue is generated. Of course I'm a paid customer (SD, not WC sub), so I wouldn't mind seeing the complete freeloaders get a little less. The way I see WC is as a resource to allow purchasers of StarDock pro
I really wish I had some advice for you, but you're the one with a successful business, and I'm not. I like to think I could do it, but I have not taken the initiative to do so. Finding dependable intelligent people *is* hard. You strike me as someone who has quite a lot of capacity for handling business matters. I'll tell it like it was explained to me by a professor in college. She guessed that I had at least a 130 IQ. In reality, it has been professionally tested while I was still i
I spent 22 hours in the hell of I-45 yesterday with my 84 year old grandmother. We made it to Dallas just fine. However, I'm catching up on the news this morning, and I'm seeing a thread of thought that is REALLY PISSING ME OFF. Emergency officials in Brazoria County (South of Houston) are blaming Houston/Harris County for causing the gridlock condit
So far, to be honest, PowerUser.Tv is the only podcast I've found of the quality to be worth spending the time listening.
I would like to see more attention paid to normalizing the volume between the different speakers. Brad tends to be *very* loud, compared to Kristin's somewhat softer voice, with other guests somewhere in between. It's hard to get a comfortable volume from my speakers due to this... It's a common problem with podcasts, but I'd still like to see it fixed.
As a writer, I'm very eager for this new version of Office/Word. I have always had a problem with how Word seemed to be designed more for computer geeks than for actual writers.
Grr.... makes being broke even worse... ever since my subscription ran out I've been suffering!!! *mutters about lackeys where I'm supposed to be starting a new job taking 2 weeks so far to get a background check processed..... still hasn't come back and so I still have no upcoming paycheck to count on*... Can't wait though.
Ugh, the 80's series Chargers were (to me at least) not great cars at all. General ugly in fact. I loved the old muscle cars, but the 80's series stuff (hell, for that matter most of the 80's series Chrysler products) were generally crap. Well, you've got to compare apples to apples. There weren't very man
That report is misleading. What it ignores is the severity of vulnerabilities, and how many remain unpatched (for how long) after being reported. I tire of citing statistics, so I won't... Go check them yourself if it's really a concern for you. Fact is, FireFox has almost 0 of the most critical vulnerabilities unpatched, whereas IE has about 20-30 unpatched critical vulnerabilities. The security in Firefox doesn't come from
