Hang in there. Downs in life happen for a reason...at least that's what my dad tells me. I'm there with you. Unemployed, looking for work, trying to support my family on unemployment. It's tough, but bite back...it works for me.

JillUser: You are more than welcome to dismiss mine or anyone else's view for that matter. It doesn't really matter to me one way or another. I just like to think that people dismiss my view for some academic purpose, rather than being offended at my brash and direct nature. And how did I fail miserably? If I recall, there were several people in this discussion that turned this into a huge pissing match about credibility based on age, location or

"Not on MY blog, you won't." When you make it a part of a public forum I will. "And you have some secret source the rest of us don't know about?" Absolutely not. I'm just trying to drive home the point that you or I or anyone only know as much as we are being told. And that isn't a whole hell of a lot. "He believes in what he is fighting for, otherwise he probably wouldn't have joined the military. Now YOU as

I'll dare whatever I damn well please. I believe that everyone ought to take a couple of steps back from their emotional perspectives on this matter and look at things with a little more objectivity. Now that it seems that I have to fight this particular battle on three different fronts, I'm going to take it one person at a time. DharmaGirl: When your husband gets back (and I honestly hope he does get back in one piece) why don't you ask h

You know what, I'm actually going to side with Dan on this one. If you aren't over there first hand, then you don't know about war. You might know about the secondhand effects of war, but nobody can know shit about war unless they've been in one, or are in one. JillUser : Besides that, no 17yr old American, unless they got into the military with a fake ID, knows diddly about war Tell that to the hundreds of teenage kids dying

And you're no better, trying to push the morals and values of your religion down other's throats who do not wish to live by your God's rules. What makes you any better?

"No, Dan, that's NOT what all this is for. This article was my way of expressing my feelings about the war, about my children's concerns and my momentary lack of wisdom and inability to answer their questions. It was NOT intended as a forum for a political debate, nor was it intended to be a place for you to come and flex your mental muscles." Dharmagirl, I think you're being a little self-centered on this respect. If you intended this

You know, when these people joined the military, they joined it full well knowing that there was a chance that they would be put into some risky situations. I don't feel sorry for them at all. Callous as it may sound, people who join the military *must* enter into that bargain knowing they could get shipped off somewhere and have their head blown off, otherwise I think naivete is afoot. It's not as if they were drafted (yet) and forced to join. It

So, what I don't get here is why people are opposed to a "flat tax". It seems to me that if all working people paid an arbitrary amount (say, 15 or 20 percent) that everyone would be contributing equally to the system. I don't particularly find it fair if a guy who is making $200,000 has to pay $10,000 in taxes where if I'm making $50,000 I end up paying $8,000 (just an example). This would all be before deductions of course, and I think that's where we need to concentrate if we are going to

Personally, I think that the anti-abortion (notice I did *NOT* say pro-life) people are just a bunch of people who want to feel that they have power to wield their ethics and morals to control others. These are usually the same group of people who are continually whittling away our personal freedoms and choices that we get to make in our lives. It's hard for me to take any stance on this issue as I really have NO RIGHT WHATSOEVER to dictate to anothe

This is an interesting observation. I take it that this is on the laptop, yes? How big is the hard drive on that thing (micro drives aren't exactly known for their performance). I'd be curious to get your feedback on how much of a performance increase your noticing (nothing scientific, give me a rough feel in percent). I've been running XP Pro with NTFS on a Western Digital 120GB 8MB 7200RPM drive, and I consistently have boot times of about 20 sec

Feh. Grass and mud my foot. It snowed so bad here that they shut the two major Interstates down about 10 miles from my house. Someone come and take this blasted winter weather AWAY!

Take an item off any normal person's desk. Repeat about a hundred times. Put all of these items in a box. Locate a hand grenade, pull pin, then place in box. Wait eight seconds and clear smoke. You now have a fairly accurate representation of what my desk normally looks like.

The problem here is that the doors swings both ways. I've known of many women who cheat on their husbands for the exact same reason the men go looking for their trophy fuck. I see a lot of negative comments by women in this post saying that men can't control their sexual urges...well, you know what ladies, women get just as horny as we do. I don't condone cheating on your SO whether you're a man or a woman. I've had the opportunity a couple of times to cheat on my wife, but I didn't. I made

I've been reading joeuser for a while now, and I'd have to say, I'm very happy to see it going in its current direction. I have a blog site up, but I am so busy, that I have not written any articles for it. I do like to read other's stories and respond. The greatest thing is that not only can the editorialist put forth their own view on a given topic, but others can also rebut the main article, thus extending the range of editorial on that topic. It also gives a chance (to steal a catch phra

Ah, but you have to understand...it doesn't snow *everywhere*. To cater to maybe 2/5ths of the car-driving population by giving them a front drive sports car with a 'vette engine is *eek*. There are benefits and disadvantages of all three: front-, rear-, and all-wheel drive cars. I drive all three types on a fairly regular basis, and each type of drivetrain responds differently. I'm no physics expert, but when I have a V-8 pushing a 2-ton car, it sure feels a lot more powerful than if it's
