Yup, Katrina brought out the racists. As I just posted on one of manopeace's threads, the worst racists are those who say different things out of different sides of their mouths. they are the worst examples of ignoramuses who lack any ability for self criticism. they are the most incidiously damaging racists that we have in our society. And, or blogs.

COL, here is a pretty good article at the WashingtonPost Link about the tax cut discussions in Congress. I think it's very telling about the arguments and who the pricks are who support the tax cuts, which would go to the wealthiest of our society. These guys are sick, and need to be impeached, and in my opinion, convicted. They are wrecking this count

True Blue, I did use the term "darkies" in post #3, but just to prove a point. The point being that there are those who post routinely here, I wont mention names (little whip) who is an ex KKKer but still has her mind in that gutter. I was parodying that kind of mindset. I'm sorry if it offended you. I would imagine that those who post here routinely understood my intent. This does point sharply to one thing, however. Not everyone who r

The south is going to hell in a handbasket, and this is what dick is doing. Shouldn't he be ...... like ....... helping the southern tragedy? This kind of speaks for itself. I guess he views the disaster as some kind of financial opportunity..... for himself. Oh wait....... Didn't Halliburton already get the contract to repair the navy yards and oil refineries?

When discussing how marvelous the economy is doing for america, ask those for whom it's not, as that is really the indicator of a good economy. If the rich are getting richer that does not make for a good economy. Societal issues must be measured by those at the lower ends of the scale, those for whom an improvement would or would not benefit. It is not uncommon for people who live in cities to rely solely on mass transit to get around, any Emergency Protocols for evacuation should have reflected that. That's one reason I was appauled to find out that Amtrak, the most efficient mass people mover in the area, was allowed to abandon the

From what I'm hearing there were certainly some stupid and arrogant people who refused to leave their homes. But, there were a host of reasons, some quite legitimate, in my opinion. First of all, many of those people endured Hurricane Camille, and thought well, we endured that one, so we can endure this one. It was a wrong decision, in hindsight, and they are well aware of that, if they survived. Others were warned that if they left, they'd lose jo

All of this Katrina disaster mess and subsequent discussions leads me to thinking that it would not be a bad idea to start assembling a 72-hour kit for emergency preparedness. I did a google search on "72 hour kit" and got a lot of hits for ideas to get started. You can also buy pre-assembled kits, with stuff packed away in bags, sacks or whatever. Not that expensi
