I bought the Collector's Edition and was excited about getting more Ship Jewelery. Unfortunately, the stuff that was included was mostly useless. The only ship part I use and like is the "Sensor Dish". This should have been in the standard edition, IMHO. I was hoping for some useful Ship Jewelery and SAUCERS so I could actually design some of my favorite ships. Oh well.... You also get a fold out Tech Tree but I haven't even bothered to look at it once.

It is very fustrating to have a speedy ship just sit there STUPIDLY and get blown away. I suppose the ability to run would also break the AI?? Where's my VGA Planets disk.....

I'd definately like to see more options in combat. The present "Rock, Paper, Sizzors" approach is just too limited and I have lost interest in playing the game at this point. First Strike weapons would be great. Long and Short Range weapons would be good. Giving Sensors the ability to affect battle (1st strike or better to hit) would be awesome. Let Sensors play a bigger role in the game... Minesweeping, Detect Stealth/Cloked, Fire 1st, etc Adding Carriers and F

I have MOO2, MOO3, Birth of the Federation and VGA Planets. They are all enjoyable to play and in some ways are betetr than Gal Civ2. Where Gal Civ 2 shines and the reason I am playing it is the ability to design my own ships and see how they look and handle in battle. That is why, for the life of me, I can not figure out why some of the "ship jewelery" seems so limited and the battles seem so.... limited. I want the Ship Jewelery to include SAUCERS so I can build Star Ships!!!

The hyperion shipyard is most useful for building ships with no engines. The main advantage of ships with no engines is the cost saving, although the space saving is of some use. Don't bother posting if you're just going to say something like "at that stage of the game, I don't care about money". At that stage of the game you should have already won anyway. </TAB

How can you 'miss' something that was never there in the first place? Maybe because we have played othr games where Fleets included Carriers and Fighters? Our world experience is not limited to Gal Civ 2. Some of us have hopes that it will become the best Space Combat/Empire Game.

In my experimental empire I stared with one class 10, 26, 6, and 3 The class three was the one that built most of the ships in the early part of the game.. How can a Class 3 build MOST of your ships? At most it could have 2 Factories (3rd square a Stardock).

Core.... as in CORE DESIGN. The Guidebook explains that it allows you to build new ships with the Survey Module having ZERO cost. The Shipyard does not reflect this. This should be fixed as well as other Shipyard mis-information (Hyperion Shipyard for example) You would have to design a new ship with a Survey Modukle, ignore what it says about the cost. IMHO this "Wonder" is more Marketing Hype. 1) Since the Space requirements aren't changed, it is not worth rth

Because it changes everything to what it should be. Save your mods in word documents, and reinstall them every patch. It changes everything to what "it should be"? D'oh! And here I bought into the whole easily Moddable Hype.

So I had to turn off explosions because they were making the game hang. I'm not sore about it. I'm intentionally using older drivers as per NVidia tech support's advice to make a newer card run under Win 98. I'm just wondering; why make explosion animations so graphic heavy that they surpass C&C Generals or Renegade (or some other action/RTS games I have) in

I think that most of the game text should be more informative. So far, this is my biggest gripe with the game. Yea Verily!! Whoever wrote some of the info for this game was eitehr on pain killers or very, very tired. I really hate the flippant "Marketing has the day off" hype but even more so the Info that isn't clear, that can be intrepret

Really? Silly me for believing the Shipyard stats when it said the cost was unchanged. IMHO the Space required should be drastically reduced or better yet, set to Zero. What the Heck is the use of this Galactic Wonder, Anyway??? By the time you research this Tech, most if not all of the Anomolies are GONE. (One more reason to have Anomolies spawn thru-out the game) I hope this Bug is fixed and not ignored.

Build a factory instead? How about building FIVE factories instead of the Hyperion Shipyard?!?! That thing is not only near useless, it is very expensive. Once you have the White Elephant built you have to actually build the ship - usually requireing a new design so you can tell it apart. When you start producing ships from the Hyperion Shipyard you need to park the ships and build a fleet of faster ships. (Unless you want to send it out alone and see it bet blown to pieces.) B

Errrr... maybe the explosions are so cool so that those of us who have a 1/2 way decent computer can actually see some decent graphics?? You can turn the explosions off for your dinosaur running Win98.... don't expect the rest of us to be blinded and crippled to make things more "fair". I could understand you complaining if your ancient machine running an UNSUPPORTED OS crashed whenever you tried to run it (assuming they said that Win98 was supoported) but don't really see the point

TWO Engines is a "Bunch of Engines"? Really. By the time this Galactic Wonder is available, you are fairly well into the game. The fact that you have a SINGLE ship that can travel +1 movement is NOTHING. At that point in the game you need FLEETS of ships unless you want to use a ship that wastes dozens of turns to create just so you can kill 1-2 unarmed ships before an enemy "Fleet" blows it to dust.

The AI in MOO II and Federation and Empire seemed to do a decent job of bringing the war to you. Another favorite of mine is VGA Planets and its AI was awesome. My experiences with this game don't suggest that the Ai is too easy. My experience is wthat when I set the difficulty high the AI is both aggressive and cheats alot. I assume it probably has alot to do with what races you play against and other settings such as map size and planet abundance. The cheating that the AI does

Thanks... I'm glad you can see my point and don't just dismiss it like #1.... (you know what Kids call #1?) BTW - That is NOT what the description says. As I clearly pointed out, it only says it increased the BASE SPEED. There was no magnitude listed. An increase of +1 is not worth it.

I have made changes to the STARS.TXT files and major changes to some of the race ship designs. However, when a new update is AUTOMATICALLY installed, it seems that all these files are overwritten!!! Why in Sanity's name are files like STARS.TXT and ship designs overwritten when the program is upgraded. I can see the executable and items requiring changes to be replaced but not files that don't need to be touched!!! The big draw for Gal Civ II is it ability to be m

#5 by shirt145 Monday, May 15, 2006 10:26 PM Trolling Insightful No they can't, because to produce any ships at all you would need the initial colony and a starport. If you wanted them in any time not approaching "never" you'd also need a factory or two. Thus a class 4 is the smallest size for a planet that is actually usef

I spend an hour or so editing a ship design, getting it just right and looking like I want it to. I deal with all the misplaced items that don't go where you tell them to go. I use the Ship info area and create something that looks like : Cruiser, (2) Phasors, (2) Photon Torps Mark II, (1) Advanced Force Field, (1) Droid Sentries, (2) Warp Mark V Engines, Advanced Support. I have to do this from memory since you can only change the Info when you click on save and that

When will the Galactic Guide Book be fixed? I have built several now. The description says "All your Ships can explore anomolies." The info when you start building it explains that the "cost" of the Survey Module is reduced to ZERO thus allowing you to add it to all your ships. I assume this means that the Space requirements would also be ZERO? NEITHER the cost of the Survey Module or the Space required for the module is reduced, let alone set for ZERO. Is this on the l
