In my opinion...the Sony DRU-510a is the best overall DVD burner. Plextor is quality...but also expensive. The sony drive supports all formats of DVD media...we bought the external model at our job and it came with lots of software and so far haven't seen a single problem. The 510a is the internal model. You can find it for about $150-$200 depending on where you shop.

I have never used Winstep so I cant really answer that question...maybe someone else who has used it can better answer that question for you. They do have trial versions of their products at the Winstep site...try it out and see if you like it.

If you use NextStart without Windowblinds, what you will get is a skinned taskbar and launch menu, everything else...like actual windows, shellstyles, buttons etc. etc. will be the default XP blue look. NextStart is a stand-alone program that can replace the Microsofts start menu and taskbar. [Message Edited]

Paxx, the thing about is my sister has a $1000 credit limit...I'm not sure if she would be able to buy it...and she only gets the $150 back after a period of time. I already ordered the other PC, but I'll admit...that Dell isn't looking so bad, you kinda got me second-guessing myself. I configured a 2600 and I just didn't like what I saw...so I went elsewhere. Also, the DVD burner is must...it's one of the main things he wanted.

Paxx, it came with a standard 3-year warranty, life-time technical support plus 1-year onsite service. I did a little search on CyberPower, they make a solid computer based on reviews... Oh, btw Gary...thanks for that tip on the Barton thing, I switched for the 2500+...if you never said anything...I probably would have gotten the 2600+.

Kona, you really have no clue what you're talking about. I went to Dell, it was actually the first place I went too, but what they were offering for the same price did not compare when it came down to performance. So, try do a little research to back up your silly claims... F0r3, the speed for the DVD burner is 4X DVD & 16X CD-R and they do not list the brand of RAM so I'm really in the dark on

My sister wants to get her boyfriend a PC for Christmas (what a nice sister, huh?), anyway...her absolute limit is $1000, that has to include everything. I did a little research on companies other than Dell. Here's what I found, and would like to know if you think this is a good deal before I make her buy it... The main reason people come here is to download content. That is this sites main purpose, so that should be the enticing factor to subscribe. So how about if Visitor/Unregistered users have a tiny DL cap, 5mb (like it is now), registered users have a 25mb/month DL cap. ODNT customers have a 100mb/month DL cap, and ofcourse subscibers have unlimited DL cap. Naturally adjust numbers to taste. Just throwin' out ideas here... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/smile.gif" border

Braniac just proved my point. If he has the option to sell skins, why wouldn't he? Why should he make them for free? That type of thinking is likely to carry over with the rest of the authors...if the option is made so easily available...what do they have to lose? I don't mind spending $5 here, $8 there...but I would HATE having to pay for each skin I download... But I don't think Froboy meant for us to take it so literally...as I'm quite sure there would be more planning involved c

I am a subscriber of this site. I love this place...it gives me a reason to go online every day. After using ODNT, I will NEVER use a PC without it...they are great produts, this site supports those products, and I use them every hour of every day...so I became a subscriber. I agree with what Frogboy said, leeches who just download without giving back is just not fair. If you owned a candy store and let all the kids steal from you...soon enough you're out of business. I don't however, like
