I'm not finding anything called IconDesktop at cnet got a link to the page you got it from?
you should be able to just add more screensavers then run them with that as amitsaran pointed out and as was asked and answered on replies 46 &47 at WinMatrix at the link you posted
not all have made it to impulse desktop pet doesn't show up

some are there (but behind a little) some are not
DesktopX You can have one huge honking (literally) icon the size of your monitor if you want

do I need to uninstall 6 (or will it do it automatically when installing 7) or can it be installed side by side, like 5 & 6

nope... didn't work... still only show SKS Standard SKS Pro (5) SKS Pro 6
maybe we have to uninstall the version running to see all available? I seem to remember having to do that before when 6 was coming out.....
I thought DTX would export to vista sidebar gadgets... so shouldn't it export to 7 sidebar gadgets?
This dll provides smarttags functionality those underlined words subscribers aren't supposed to see....

you actually downloaded the Animated Desktop software or something created by Ausvet using the software?
i have noticed that gadgets i have used alway default back to original settings but not to despair.... I'm sure that shortly one of those smart scripters like sViz will drop by.
