Every winter, the Minnesota Twins hold a charity event at the Metrodome called Twinsfest. It is a chance for fans to walk around the field, look at memorobelia, buy souvenirs, get autographs, buy tickets, and stuff like that. There are concessions and games for the kids and all of that. Personally I have been inspired lately. Somehow that coincides with the start of American Idol. There's too much political idocy going on here on the weblog. If the majority were to rule in Iraq, they would end up with a Shiite theocracy, right? Then Iraq would buddy-up with Iran. Then we'll have three theocracies in the reigon: Iran, Iraq, and the USA
If I were a Shi'ite Muslim, I would stay home, and hope that the majority (who represents me) would cast a ballot in my favor. If I were a Sunni Muslim, I would raise hell because I know that I'm "gonna get it" once the results come in. If I weren't religious, I would look at them all: Shi'ite, Sunni, and Christian invaders in contempt.
Emily was fantastic, wasn't she? Looking back (four days later), Emily's was the most memorable audition of the night. She wasn't as memorable as Leroy Wells, but at least she won't have to compete with him again. Good luck Emily. After that "Carson and Talon" message, I am officially rooting for her.
It seems as if one of the old jokes is dead. I told this one to a group of first-graders at my school: Me: Guess what? Kids: What? Me: That's what. Kids: (Stunned silence.) When I was a first-grader, this joke killed. It doesn't seem to have the same effect these days.

Today was the last day of the New Year Grand Sumo Tournament from Tokyo, Japan. The winner of the tournament with an impressive perfect record was Yokozuna Asashoryu. Other notable occurences were: Tochiazuma's earning of another Ozeki promotion, Hakuho's 9 win performance at Komosubi , and the possible Spring-tournament promotion to Sanyaku of Kotooshu. Last night a snowstorm came through most of Minnesota. We had lots of the white stuff, along with wind that made some pretty sizable drifts. That was our first significant snowfall of the year. Good comment avid viewer (Anonymous User)! It seems pretty clear that those sorts of "tidbits" are better left "hidden" in order to keep the rags-to-riches appeal of the show. I am a bit torn as to whether the contest would be better off if all the contestants were required to be relatively amateur performers. --I liked Diana a lot. I haven't heard about her previous experience.

(Jesse is the guy who forgot the lyrics and had to ask his family in the library.) I imagine that what he did (or inthis case: didn't do,) was the worst fear of any prospective Idol talents.

The title of this weblog entry intrigued me. I actually read your article. You see, I have quit reading nearly all politically-slanted weblogs on the site. (Due to my distaste of arguing about politics.) There's nothing really that I can add besides: You're right.
Bitterness and lots of family loss, plus a stroke. As far as wrestling being real or not: of course its real. The guys go out there and put on a performance. They work up the crowd with their speaking. Fans come to interact with the talents. Wrestlers take pride in how they perform. I'd liken pro wrestling to a martial arts demonstration with additional theatrics. That's "real" enough for me.
It is fun for the Canadian fans to go against the grain. I think that the booing of The Rock against Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania in Toronto did a lot to empower the North-of-the-Border fans. What makes it hardest for me to be a fan is John Cena. Good God he's awful! Last week's speech was just painful. I hate to wish ill of others, but some time off for Cena would be good for everyone. Whenever he comes on, I am inspired to change the channel.
We use Dish Network for satellite TV at my house. I am reasonably satisfied with the service. I see commercials on TV where they're offering four free receivers and a free Tivo-like device for new customers. I only have one receiver and no Tivo. I want what's on the ad!
