Click here for my latest article Well after country night we found the Mandisa , Paris , and Elliot in the bottom three. That was an interesting bottom-three, considering that each of these three would conceivably have the most difficult time with the country genre. Mandisa was there because her song wasn't very good. Paris was in the bottom three because she h

I commented a few times last year that Paula seemed to be under the influence of something.
What happened to Fantasia? That was the second time that I've heard something had gone wrong with her, but I still don't know what that was. **Point two: I like disco night!
Click here for my latest article. Every year on American Idol, there are two theme nights that I enjoy significantly less than others. One theme that I dislike is "Motown night", and the other one was tonight's theme: Country. It looks like I wasn't alone in disliking "Country night", as a number of the contestants didn't seem to be so thrilled with the theme either. The best news from the country world has to be Ken
Was it Eerie, Nevada? Whatever it was, I never saw the show. Another scary series that I really liked was "American Gothic". Sheriff Black was pure evil!
Some time yesterday afternoon, I started thinking about "Twin Peaks". "Twin Peaks" probably has to be my favorite television series. It is funny, dreadful, mysterious, creepy, scary, poignant, and enigmatic, all at the same time! Over the years I have spent a few days here and there watching the series from beginning to end. Each time I hope that it ends differently; but every time I watch, Cooper still ends up in the bathroom looking at Bob in the mirror. That still creeps me out
I agree with Jill about Lisa. Even though she was eliminated early, I'd bet that she has the best chance of all the contestants to be famous in the long run. I'd think that the problem this year is the lack of any suspense over who the eventual winner will be. The most interesting aspect of this show will be to see how long Kellie lasts. Her singing is above-average, and her personality and look have the potential to propel her a lo
Click here for my latest article. Following a lackluster 2000-2006 themed show: Ace Young , Lisa Tucker , and Katharine McPhee found themselves in the bottom-three. In the end, Lisa was sent home. Lisa's departure leaves nine finalists. It is a mystery to me why Lisa never quite caught-on once the competition moved to the big stage. It seemed like she had a hard
You're right about the Kelly Clarkson song. It was a big risk to sing something that nearly everyone in the audience would know. If she did a great job, that would leave an awesome impression. Of course if the song didn't turn out so well, that would be a mess too. Sadly for Lisa, she wasn't able to sing it as well as she needed to. Thanks for all of the comments, considering that this week's report was so truncated.
Click here for my latest article. Tonight's article will be a bit shorter than usual. I had a really long two days of conferences at work, and I am looking forward to watching last Sunday's "Sopranos" before going to bed. (Hopefully I will find time tomorrow to add to these comments...) Tonight's Idol featured the contestants singing songs from the past 6 years. Compared to last week's gem of a show, this week's
Bush is doing his best to create a theocracy here too. At least he's consistent.
Yesterday my family and I visited a grocery store that we don't often go to. While we were looking through the "Asian Food" section, we found a few bottles of "Iron Chef" branded sauces. The sauces use the show's "K" logo. I think this is an interesting TV tie-in for a consumer product.
Click here for my latest article. After the 1950s performances, one contestant found himself eliminated. Finding themselves in the bottom three for the second week in-a-row, Lisa and Bucky welcomed Kevin into the fold. Ultimately, Kevin Covais was eliminated. Comments: Lisa Tucker: For some reason there isn't a lot of lo
In my opinion, Kellie was the best last night. She made a song I'd never heard before sound appealing. That kind of blew my mind when I heard that Barry Manilow wasn't familiar with that song either. I thought that was the kind of song that even non-country fans would be familiar with.
Click here for my latest article. Tonight's theme was "The 1950s". Knowing that: I wasn't expecting much. I was expecting the contestants to miss the essence of the oldies, or to sing an easy song poorly. Surprisingly enough, nearly all of the songs turned out really well. The special guest star this week was Barry Manilow. There were good clips of Barry working with the various idols. (Barry seems li
Late last night, Team Japan beat Team Cuba 10-5 in the finals of the World Baseball Classic. Although the lopsided score doesn't seem so close, the game was actually really competitive and exciting. The international teams were very impressive, and the determination of the teams, and intensity of the competition rivaled the MLB post-season. The games were definitely more exciting than spring training games! Even though the tournament was exciting, there are certainly som
Apparently Christopher Eccleston quit because he didn't want to get typecast. That makes a lot of sense. I'd imagine that a lot of the previous Doctors would end up suffering "Luke Skywalker Syndrome". But
There have been some good things on television lately. Last night I saw the US premiere of the 2005 series of "Doctor Who" on the SciFi Network. Apparently this will be a weekly series until they run out of new episodes. My verdict is: So far, so good! This new guy who plays the Doctor now may finally get viewers to forget Tom Baker. Watching the show last night brought back good memories of watching the show as a kid. I hope that success of the new ser
I don't get it. There isn't much love out there for Kevin. (Or Ace either for that matter.) I am not saying that either of those two are any good, but I'd take them over John Stevens and Scott Savol.
I read it again! I missed the new stuff!
Alright. I read the link. I wasn't excited when I read your article at first, as I thought that they'd start playing "The Flying Circus" again. Now that I see that there will be some sort of new material, I will definitely make a point of watching that!
Click here for my latest article. Tonight's bottom three were: Ace Young , Lisa Tucker , and Melissa McGhee . At the end, Melissa was eliminated. Ace Young went on first on a two-hour show. His song selection and execution were also poor. I wonder whether this guy will get any better than his early "Father Figure" performance. Lisa Tucker sa
I don't know whether I'd consider myself a Kevin "fan"... I am just acknowledging his strengths. Bucky does well on account of "low expectations".
Click here for my latest article. The theme of tonight's show was "Stevie Wonder Songs". Hearing that, I knew that a few of the contestants would have a rather difficult time with the theme. Tonight's performances: 1. Ace Young sang "Do I Do". This one was pretty below-average. Although Ace had a few good spots, it didn't really seem like he could handle the song. Grad
I know that there was a warning last time (which I never saw). When I came back from exile, I found it. I assume that there was a warning about the site being down this time too. Suggestion: Whoever posts said warning should experiment a little with making the announcement a bit more eye-catching. Maybe putting a "we'll be closed from XX to XX" somewhere on a banner or something.
