Two words: spy more. :)

Finished a 33k alliance win (maso, large, occasional), playing as populists but with no other diplo picks. I blew half my picks on Economy +30 just to see what it would do (my economy turned out not noticeably better than normal.) Drew a not-too-hot start too, got stuck in a corner with only a few stars in my immediate vicinity. While the Torians in the center of the map got a monster start, I managed to get all of 1 PQ 17 and 3 PQ14s as my initial colonies. Managed to claw my back from there in
I submitted another game, this time it seems to have worked. No sign of my previous game though.
A question... I sent you a save file from my game that I submitted but which failed to register in the Metaverse a few days ago, but haven't heard anything. What's your policy regarding this sort of thing, should I expect a response? I am concerned about what happens to the possibility of that game being submitted if I submit another one. I'm also wondering if I will have the same problem with the next game I submit. What's the scoop? A response of some sort would be appreciated.
You can do that if there is a sector border between them. Is that the case here, Prefect?
Anyone else having problems submitting a game, such that at your end everything looks ok at your end when you submit it, but it never registers in the Metaverse?
I've submitted the game a couple different times now, including replaying the last few turns from the PreviousAutoSave file and trying to avoid building up as much cash. From what reading I've been able to do I would expect a zero score at the game summary screen as well -- I just don't know any reason why this game submission wouldn't be working. :sniff!: Maybe I will have to mail the file to CariElf and see if they can figure out what's going on...
Umm, btw... what does a zero-score game look like, as in how would I know if I got one? The fact that my game is not showing up is making me suspicious that that might have happened to me. I'm not sure why, though... about the only thing I can think of was that I had saved up about 15-20k in preparation for building about 8 terror stars, basically by turning off spending while waiting for my constructor fleets to position themselves. That doesn't strike me as a terribly large sum, considering I
Added a 29K game (small, abundant) to the pot. It definitely felt like milking, though, getting terraforming/evolution control and a bunch of other unneeded non-military techs & building building building for umpteen turns before finally launching a terror star strike. Next time I may not allow it to drag out, and to heck with the score... we shall see. :) EDIT: not sure why my game isn't showing up yet, though... perhaps later. [Message Edited]
Yuck. Don't even go there. Your problem is almost certainly with the owner, not the dog.
Well, our fearless leader was the one who originally proposed it, I just took what sounded like a plan and ran with it. :)
The upkeep is either 5bct or 10bct, not at all a bad hit for a few turns as a downpayment on grabbing even one yellow star, much less a whole cluster of whatever is out there.
It is a bit more than that... we also are paying to spend money there to build something (currently a scout) that we may or may not want. And, if we want to get our value out of that spending, we have to keep that planet around long enough for it to complete, or else pay to rush it. Otherwise if we
Yeah, I'm thinking this would have been a good map to go for a one planet challenge! :) Of course it's far too late now, even if we abandoned everything we'd still be way far behind on the pop growth/tech/wonder curve...
Yeah, at the end of the day we plan to nominate someone to submit and swap in their serial number. Not sure who that will be yet, though. :)
And, a kind of interesting start to the succession game too! We're going to be spread all over Hell's half-acre... [Message Edited]
Whether MOO3 is worthwhile depends on what you are looking for in a game. :) A few of us at RB tried it out and came to the conclusion that there are a few sweeping problems with the game that pretty much wreck it for us as a community. For instance: a) The victory conditions are very poorly designed. Senate and especially X victory conditions are quite arbitrary, leaving only conquest as a reasonable VC. b) Early conquest is so overpowered as to be the only sensible option --
I believe that, officially, it is "what is 6x9" :)
I noticed something similar with aphrodesiac recently as well. My growth curve was level with the AI empires, I built aphrodesiac, and my growth curve remained level with the AI for quite a number of months. I eventually took over another planet, at which point the aphrodesiac seemed to kick in and I started growing more quickly. My morale was at 100% the whole time (or close enough as makes no difference.) OTOH, I have also had games where aphrodesiac kicked in immediately.
Question: Do the morale bonuses from trade goods built work? When I build them it seems to have no effect on planets that have <100 morale. Does it take a while for them to work or something?
Ships with def>att gain a bonus of half their defense value to their attack rating.
$64 CDN is about what it would have cost you if you had ordered from Amazon at $25 US, once you included exchange rate, shipping/handling (only free in the US) and customs/exise, so you needn't feel too badly ripped off. You did get sold a line of hooey about it not being available for much longer though, if there was a reasonable selection of stores in your area to shop at. Personally, I opted to wait a bit & shop around. I bought GalCiv in Nov for $42 CDN from CompuSmart after price-matching w
Canada, of course! Where else? :)
For those interested in AAR, there's a thread with a couple added on our website forum here: http://www.network54.com/Hide/Forum/thread?forumid=237344&messageid=1069731445
Sirian: I thought we'd lure in more of the RB regulars by now. Oh well. They are all off either with Civ3 Conquests or the new Diablo II patch. At least we have some active up and comers here. I found a copy of GalCiv for a decent price; just give me a couple weeks, and I'll drop in. Still messing around with Homeworld 2 atm, but I expect to start ramping down my time on that and ramping up on GalCiv around the beginning of December. EDIT: what, this forum doesn't do ita
