What with evident knowledge in depth of DNA in the future, I rather doubt the "Matrix" will materialize. Smarter humans will be prepared for that terrorism.

I don't think you have to worry about sensitive artist firing guns. However, the provocative image of Saddam in a silly hat firing a rifle into the air is symbolic of Iraqi mentality. Ironically now that he's captured they fire guns to celebrate that he can no longer fire guns into the air and worse, into people.
Obviously, you're too young to know that savings was nil for all persuasions back in the thirties--how would you have liked yoor parents to stand in bread lines, or an old woman in her eighties hobbling to a soup kitchen? Your ridiculous leap from the obvious religious right influence in the R Party to more Republicans are religious wheras Dems are criminals shows you're incredible naivete, and typical Republican arrogance. As for savings, it is probably true that Reps have greater savings for t

You're right they do not believe in liberal views but they believe in a safe environment, safety nets for the common folks, excellent public schools, najtional defense out of necessity, not choice, decent job security, fair trade, not free trade and they certainly should know that without the undepinnings of the Democratic party for the past seventy years, there wouldn't be half the goodies now enjoyed.
Yet we seem to be gods in Iraq. What is the difference? Surely China has plenty of WMD. But I agree the last thing we wnat is another "police action." Remember the forgotten war in Korea!
A large island by any other name is still Formosa, the rightful property of China. We cannot and should not get involved in another war--enough is enough.
As a little boy in the 30s, I always had a dog and loved caring for all of them. In those days, sadly, a Vet was more or less prohibitive, what with the Depression, and a couple of them died from distemper. After the war, I got an Irish Setter and this time I made sure he would get all his shots. I had him for five years--he was forever a happy puppy until he swallowed a stone. I replaced him with a companionable collie who was adored by my kids. Now as an old man, I've have a mixed br

It seems that no one "of the other people" cares about Bill O'Reilly's views--what wonderful news!!
By government you mean federal, how is it few conservatives go bonkers over sales and real estate taxes? a note from one of those people
I'm Irish but the IRA doesn't dictate my vote--in fact I'm ashamed of their destructive tactics. Sharon hasn't done much for peace except to bomb the hell out of them and getting nowhere. They should've stuck to Oslo. Of course, the Palestinians are even worse in continuing their suicidal ventures of destruction--also getting them nowhere. I'm not sure binational will help. Do we really want to see a Mason-Dixon line there?
Before Moses ordered “Thou shalt not kill” was murder okay? Did not human reason already intuit that it was bad to take a life in virtue of the instinct of self-preservation in the other as well as the self? — doubtless. Nevertheless, there were those of the “others” who did not go beyond the perception of self-survival, thus failing to take into account the other guy’s rights. As a matter of fact, this type, was all too aware of self-preservation as a powerful tool in getting others to fol
The Democrats do not want to ban all weapons, nor take away guns from law abiding citizens; they simply want better control over who can purchase guns and prohibit assault weapons, which have no business in the hands of those not in law enforcement. As for the difference in the parties, the galloping conservatism has made it impossible for the Dems to even utter convictions, much less practice them.
It is a inevitable that the "ugly" of the American side will be covered up. Yet it still doesn't in anyway condone Saddam's brutality.
In the “Family of Politics” issue last year of The American Prospect, I suppose a liberal magazine needs the luxury of self therapy in repeating the painfully obvious — what the heck the conservatives harass us obsessively with their trite commentary. Still, I find it vexing to read such commentary as: Portes’ “Many children of immigrant parents are not living out the American Dream. Until better jobs and schools materialize, they are at risk of becoming the next underclass.”Coont
I liked your article and innocence. Since the artist left his cave drawings behind, art has been institutionalized, which means that only those in certain circles decide on what's art and then pass it down to the masses. Therefore, navels, and elephant dung are in; serious art is out for commoners.
Great and refreshing attitude--have a wonderful time as a mother!
Larry, I empathize with your frustration concerning the Democrats. However, since Vietnam they have been walking on eggs to satisfy right of center because of the paranoia of their leftist actions on civil rights and their bias of giving the little people a fair shake. The enormous national tumor of greed and what's-in-for-me that prevails today is what makes it a failed party, alas.
It is not a question of the government knows best, rather it is that free-wheeling corporations are not exactly champions of the common good.
At long last we agree!
Could it be your perceptions lack vision, or do you just belong to a lousy association? Your problem with liberals is that they get too much done, that is, used to, until the conservatives took over and rammed through reactionary legislation to impede big government--I include Clinton here--but with little results, other than scandalous bottom line thinking from the corporate realm.
How's this for starters: what is the vision behind tax cuts?--short term gain, to hell with future generations who have to pay for it. How about the vision that job loss on Main Sreet means nothing compared to the gain on Wall Street?
Thank you. as an ex-marine, I know all too well about violence and the need to eliminate it, and have long felt we should track down terrorist no matter where they are--including murders, rapists and muggers in this country. Again I appreciate your sensitive reply.
