I found this on Andrew Barnett's site. He found it on Antonio Savordin's blog, so this is sort of a third degree theft. But it's the good kind. From Andrew Barnett's blog: I found this beautifully executed piece -- I forget the path that led me there -- on Antonio Savoradin's blog.http://savoradin.com/ It's about the nature of depression. I might comment on it in a few days, or work it into a longer piece I have brewing. But for now I just wanted to put it up here, before I fo

Before we begin: Now having crossed the halfway mark of our tale we find ourselves sort of in the woods and in the mists. In a tale with so many conflicting plots and characters: would be monks, gay teenagers, high school sluts, and itinerant saints not to mention Tarot card readers and sisters who grow marijuana in their backyard for public consumption, it is almost impossible not to be confused or disconcerted at some point in time. But I'll trust no one is bored yet! If you've made

Writing is like driving at night in the fog. You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way." --E.L. Doctorow This could not be truer. If you're calling yourself a writer, please sit down and write something. As long as you're ta

If we weren't all about the same age as the kid, it would be right. I wonder if twenty years from now we'll say... forty years olds these days!

Yeah, this part of the story shifts in times and names. When I proofed it I wondered if it wasn't meant to be a little confusing. I remember that after the middle of chapter seven I sort of felt "out of the woods". I know what you mean. I think all the characters past, present and future actually start to get confused, and this is when everyone had to start finding their way out of the woods. Hell, I'm confused too! But I am proud. I always hoped that

It is approaching blizzard weather today. I am really a little tired of winter by now. Shovel once, and an hour later it is time to shovel snow again. Not paying enough attention to outside weather I leave home in sneakers and it's a miracle that my feet aren't soaked through wading in the snow. This afternoon I go mass at Saint Jame's Cathedral. It's always in the little chapel and the main church is closed up except for Sunday, but today I see a hearse and two black Cadillacs and rem

I think she's talking to Carmelites and Trappistines and they're all plotting to kill the pope and put a woman on the Holy See. In fact, I'm sure of it.

Hey, I've been gone from joeuser most of the week or I would have responded sooner. I hope you didn't write very long ago. Don't worry, you will get an autographed copy when it comes out and I am rich and famous and controversial and everyone wants to be me. Okay, that'll be a long way off so I'll just say you can have a copy when it's published.... Chapter seven starts going up tonight !

Okay, firstly, anyone here can write whatever they want. I mean, look at half these blogs! And we've got the right to be as annoying or narcissistic as we want to be. And, incidently, it was just a profile. It wasn't narcissistic at all. Even though I think I'm spelling that word wrong. And I've changed my mind. Sometimes it is perfectly fine to hate Americans !

Okay.... Gem City! No, it's not okay to hate us! It's okay to Bush, though ! P.S. Let's not forget a few years back when the sun never set on the British Empire and the hate shoe was on the other foot....

A FEW WORDS FROM THE AUTHOR: as we go into the second part of chapter six where things come to a head for our friends and sides are taken, lines are drawn, I would like to say thank you to all who have written in with your comments and support. When I began writing this tale two, nearly three years back, the first thing in my mind was the question of who would ever read it. I had to trust that if I threw it out into the universe, the right people would find it, and s

Hey you! I was wondering what had happened to you. Chapter six is up now and the second half is going up tonight! In this part secrets are revealed and consequences have to be lived with. Hope all is well at the workplace and with the fiance! -- Chris

I am surprised to hear from you because this is certainly not a story for everyone. The sexuality is certainly graphic (believe it or not even for me) I try not to write what is easy for me, but what rings true. The author has Celtic blood, yes: Irish, Scottish, and Welsh. I belong to the bardic tradition of Wales so it's interesting that you would pick up on that. I thank you for being able to compliment and read something difficult to your sensibilit

That's all fine and good, but one might want to ask who all the right wing Christians (and Jews and just plain conservatives of no real religious persuasion) who they're going to vote for if not for Bush. I would like to add, as I think I implied, that not every conservative is a Christian and not all Christians are conservatives.

It's taken me three days to get to the end of this article. It'll probably take me twice as long to answer the questions. Actually, the way I'm going, this will be a month long process.

Ian ran after him. “What I was going to say,” Mackenzie said, “is that I generally expect things to go badly. I just knew it would rain the whole time. Or I’d be stuck with someone I hated.” “Instead we’re the ridiculous duo,” Ian said. “I wouldn’t sa
