I recently decided to give LS another try (first experience......could have been better. went back to Explorer pretty quick) I DL'ed a few themes, Antares II among them. Beautiful work, though I don't care for animation most of the time. I've been using the tenjo theme most though. Nice and unobtrusive. kona, if you go to bookmarks>manage bookmarks and click "view" there are different view options. Maybe if you play with it a little you can get it pretty close to how it looked in IE.

To configure your tabbed browsing, Tools>Options>Advanced>Tabbed Browsing. Then select how you want it to behave. Kona, I will admit that some FF users can be quite "enthusiastic" in their support. Kinda like the Linux users at Slashdot. Anyway, the tests I linked to showed Opera to be overall fastest on a Windows platform. If speed is the total goal then why not run Opera?
