Thanks KarmaGirl! Brad- Why does my blog make me a troll? Robert Preston- I really can't believe that any voter would find these claims "boring". How can people possibly support someone with this type of record???

A recent report that the Pentagon has produced a study on global climate change reminded me of an article I published in 2002 in Student Life, the newspaper at Washington University in St. Louis. I thought I'd reprint it here because it's still very topical: The war on ourselves: stop global warming by Robert Guinness "You are either with us or against us." These are the harsh, truthful words of President Bush

Your comments are appreciated BakerStreet, but my post remains. You'll noticed I changed it to include a preface that the writing is not mine. In fact, I was going to write that in the first place (I got this in an email, and I was wondering if someone, notably Republicans, could refute it.) I also looked over the article one more time myself before i posted it to see if there's anything I personally could throw out based on my own knowledge...but there wasn't. I actually got this email quite aw

This is something I wrote less than one year ago. It was the night before Operation Iraqi Freedom began. I had been long wishing that there wouldn't be another war in Iraq. I had wished that President Bush had done more to get United Nations support. After Bush gave the 48-hour ultimatum, I had prayed Saddam Hussein would leave. But with time ticking away, this is where I was... 19 March 2003, 0300 A Perspective from

It's been popular on many websites because it is striking. Listen, I'm not a Bush hater. I've considered voting for him. I like some of what he does. But when I read this, it honestly had an impression on me. I'm not interested in Clinton's resume. Right now I'm interested only in Bush's resume and Kerry's resume. By the way, Mr. BakerStreet, I do have sources, which I can pass on to you if you'd like. Which of the statements do you believe to be false?

I don't think it matters if you get paid, it is still unwise to publish publicly whatever hits your inbox without bothering to check any of it for lies. I'm *positive* that it doesn't matter legally whether you get paid for defaming someone. As I said, I did check it over, and to the best of my knowledg

BakerStreet: When did I claim to be a journalist? If someone was paying me to write on this blogsite, maybe then I would have to be a little more careful with my claims. But this is not a newspaper or journal. It's a forum for public debate. I'm asking if anyone can refute them, discuss them, whatever. I've read them through a couple of times, and I don't see any that are false to the best of my knowledge. That's all I'm offering as far as verification at this point, so take it or leave it!

BakerStreet- I'm with you on Clinton's military record. I'm not a Clinton fan. But I think Kerry would be a good Commander-in-Chief. He has argued that we need to but a "non-American face" on the occupying forces. For instance, a Muslim force (and Arabic speaking force) would be much better equipped to handle security in Iraq, (along with U.S. periphial support). I think Kerry understands the cultural considerations for fighting a war in the Arab world. Kerry hasn't proposed any tax in

BakerStreet- I'll full admit that these are not my own words. Sorry for not making that clear! I received the "Resume" in my email inbox. I'm don't feel particularly loyal enough to this email source to back up all these statements. I was merely seeing if Republicans are able to refute them. Based on my knowledge of Bush's record, I don't know any of them to be false, but I'm willing to publicly retract any of the lines that are shown to be false. The reason that you should tak

I supported Nader in 2000, but ended up trading my vote to someone in Georgia, and voted for Gore in my swing state of Missouri. There is no way I'm supporting Nader in 2004. I think this change is because I have matured as a voter. (I also like the Democratic alternative better than I ever liked Gore.) Anyone who supports Nader in 2004 might as well be a republican. In fact, a lot of his supporters probably are Republicans. If y

Andy- All the posts to your personal blog will automatically show up on the group blog. This is a feature that I had especially installed for our group blog. I'm not sure yet if I like it, because there are some articles that I might like to keep separate from "Contact" I in general like your poems. I want to comment on the last one especially, since you asked for comment on that one. It is indeed sad that our flag has to drape the coffin of a fallen soldier. But I thi

Maureen- That was a great synopsis of you! I hope others are reading. Topic of discussion: Lots of people on the news programs (Lou Dobbs for instance) are talking about broken borders, and what a big problem illegal immigration is in the USA. What are your feelings on this?

I have created a KerrySpace email group for those interested. Here is the description: This group will help to organize those supporters of John Kerry, who are very interested in space policy. We will work to influence Senator Kerry's platform on space policy--by formulating ideas for space policy, which can be presented to the public for comment, and then submitted to Senator Kerry for his approva

Recently the number of hits on the Mars Rover website (http://marsrover.jpl.nasa.gov) exceeded the global human population on Earth. Quite Amazing! Check out this article from NASA: What does this mean for public support of space exploration?

Well, I should be working right now, but I was so excited when I checked JoeUser Monday morning and found that we had some posts on our blog ring site...I just had to take some time for a quick post! There are still a few kinks in the road (The group blog feature is a new one, so I think they are still working out some bugs and adding more features.) Right now it is pretty hard to actually find the posts. I'm going to email the administrator of this site (I've already had significant co

RESUME GEORGE W. BUSH 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Washington, DC 20520 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Law Enforcement: I was arrested in Kennebunkport, Maine, in 1976 for driving under the influence of alcohol. I pled guilty, paid a fine, and had my driver's license suspended for 30 days. My Texas driving record has been "lost" and is not available. I just read an article from the International Herald Tribune (which I actually read on commondreams.org) , which states that the first flag on Mars, should not be the American Flag, but the "flag of Planet Earth" I would like to respond to this with a sobering fact: There is no "flag of Planet Earth." I'm not saying there shouldn't be, but the fact is, there isn't. Sure, there is the United Nations flag, but
