Well, as I stated, I didn't think that anyone read those, as I know I don't. But if it bothers you so, maybe you should get out more and broaden your horizons alittle, ya know ... And as for you Galaxy613, I would never apologize to someone who seems to be seriously in need of a personality upgrade, maybe from cold fish to luke warm rock perhaps? <br/

My recommendation would be to sell it at retail & include shipping of the product as part of the sale. Makes no sense to me to buy a $30 game & have to pay $35 from you guys to get it shipped to me (as I prefer to own the physical game itself). With GCII the cost was $5 higher than any retail store was offering. Not only that but many stores are willing to place the i

Often, I prefer to buy at a store, if possible (I like to support local business when I can), but I have no problem with buying online and/or digital distribution, if it's done well, and Stardock/Totalgaming.net does it well (I've bought digitally from several different sources, including Steam and Direct2Drive, and this has been the best system I've seen). If you want your box (and I did with GCII, though I pre-ordered DA download-only), you can get your box. If you want your receipt, you can p

What I would like to see in the XP is weapons that do not hit 100% of the time. This is already somewhat built into the combat system -- the attack roll reflects "missed" shots, and the defensive roll then reflects how much of the weapons that hit were blocked. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FFF394 class="mb-Body-

1) Pretty much all actions can affect your relations to some extent. Just playing around with trading screen won't, though. Only successful trades affect relations -- the better the trade for your partner, the better a relations boots. 2) No. Red and green indicate whether the other civ will accept the trade or not. 3) Yes, but very expensive. 4) They can be worth a lot, though I usually prefer to keep them to myself. 5) It's largely an indication of ho

Yes, fighters are small and fast and can usually avoid one of the cap ship's large guns. The problem is that the cap ships don't have to aim directly at a fighter, because they have so many guns. All they have to do is shoot all/most/many of their guns in that fighter's general direction, and chances are they'll be able to fill that section of sky with enough projectiles that something is going to hit. It's a shotgun effect; one bullet may miss, but if you send a spread of pellets, there'

It's just about techs -- each civ will start with a necessary tech to colonize one (or maybe more) planet type. For custom civs, you'll add that starting tech to your civ creation.

We can keep goin' 1) Yes, you should. The default ships are, by design, going to inferior to what you will be able to design at nearly any given point in the game. The AI designs its own ships. If you're not interested in the cosmetic portion of the designer, you can simply and quickly stick your functional elements directly to a hull and run with it. 2) Keeping up with the AI can be

1) A lot of it depends on your difficulty level, etc. In general, it's possible, but it may/will not be easy. 2) Different people have different preferences for this, and I don't think there's one best way. Personally, I usually make them research planets. 3) I usually don't build starports on low-quality planets, but it really depends on my specific strategic needs that game, so I don't have a hard and fast rule on this. Other people build 'em on all planets. You can only have

1) Yes, starbase bonuses stack. Starbases only affect your planets (though there is a United Planets event available that allow starbases to affect allies, too. 2) Military bonuses only apply to ships while they're in the base's area of effect. 3) Don't know the exacts about how the influence starbases work, but they do extend your influence in the area they're built. How much this is reflected in real planet IP's, I've never investigated, but they will decrease your planet's e

I'm a big fan of defense. Good defenses mean you can have smaller fleets, which is an economic plus. Also, your ships have a better survival rate, allowing them to gain more xp, making them even tougher. In a recent game, I made a 4-ship, Large hull fleet stacked heavy on defense, and proceeded to waltz through the entire galaxy with it. By the end of the game, these 4 ships had 250 offense/700 defense, had destroyed upwards of 100 enemy ships and had taken a total of 10-20 hp of

Yeah, you need to find a forum that's meant for such unrelated things. Somewhere you can post about stuff that's not quite on the subject at hand. Somewhere...off...topic...

A builder would be a nice convenience, but since it would really just be a glorified xml-generator, I don't think it's really worth Stardock dev time. Maybe a modder'd be willing to build one, though. The Yor scenario sounds like a good start -- could be very neat once it's fleshed out.

When the game is running, bring up the task manager, right click on the galciv2.exe process, and select 'Choose Affinity'. That will allow you to set the game to only use one processor. There's also a utility called imagecfg that determines affinity on a more permanent basis, but I have no first-hand experience with it.

Wow. All that difficult, difficult typing. What is it, twenty-four, thirty-two whole characters? I've had to type my code in once . Since then I've downloaded and installed the game, downloaded and installed the game yet again after rebuilding my computer, and updated every patch. All without a glitch, without a hiccup. I don't have to pop a cd in and out all the time (as a matter of fact,
