He then warned of the backlash to be expected when "The Passion" begins to play in the Middle East. ( so I guess he couldn't envokea riot here, so he'll bait the ME now )
I heard this morning that it won't even be shown in Israel, to avoid the sort of "is it or isn't it" fighting that's currently going on in this country.

"The way we grew up, we never had to earn trust--it was always there. It was always a huge bolster to my ego to know my parents trusted me. Losing that meant the introduction of the restrictions, not the other way around. " Very well said...I think too many of the PSAs and "experts" are geared toward those parents who have lost control, or perhaps never had it in the first place. I've raised my children basically as you describe above...we've

I saw the movie on Sunday with my husband and my 14 yr old daughter. We were all totally blown away with the emotion it stirred in us....none of which were anti-Semitic emotions, btw. It's my opinion that the movie won't create those feelings in anyone who doesn't already harbor them...and those who do really don't need the excuse of the movie. I agree that it is pretty violent...but that's because the events it portrays were violent events..

I will take exception to your comment about gays " trying to shove their values down the throats of the vast majority of Americans." I think really they would just like to have the same opportunity and legal rights. As do I....SOME gays may do that, but the majority of them merely want the right to live their lives with the same benefits and rights as straight Americans. If we pass this amendment, we effectively make them second class citizens, and take a major step backward in this cou

He should have never taken any stance on it at all. This is an election tactic for all the idiots that were asking why the President wasn't taking a stand. I SO agree with you....and with his speech yesterday, he lost the vote of this long time Republican come November.

It's fair of you to feel this way and ask for acceptance, but IMO - you really shouldn't be looking for validation in the choices you've made, especially if you and your family are happy. Looking for validation? I don't think any of us who stay at home are looking for validation...the only validation I will ever need comes from seeing my children grow into responsible, caring, loving adults.

Hmm, I was and trying to picture people who post on this site. Where do you live? Are you a guy or a chick? I wonder how old you all are. What do you look like? What are some of your major beliefs? Do you believe in God? What are some of your interests? Who's the person you feel you relate to most on this site? I thought it'd be

Then you have people like somebody that I am related to who has one child, works part time because she says she goes crazy staying home, is pregnant and talks about having a third. Now *that* is not being true to yourself. (working with two or three small children? especially when you can live on your husbands income?) Be true to yourself and make your life work the way you want it. How is that not being true to herself? Perhaps she wants to have a large family, but yet she also gets sa

Homemaking is a real job--but it is only open to those who are married to a man or woman rich enough to support them. As a lower middle class mom, who stays at home, I have to disagree. We are not wealthy by any stretch of the imagination. We just have different priorities....for us, it's more important to have me staying home than it is for us to have cable tv, cell phones, widescreen TV, two cars, designer clothes, etc. We make due with the simple basics of life, and try to instill th

It seems like children should ideally be raised by both parents. Have to think about that one for a minute. And that can be done whether or not the parent who works outside the home helps with housekeeping duties. Parenting responsibilities and housekeeping are NOT the same thing, not by any means. One parent can work outside the home and can still be a part of the decisions that need to be made regarding the children, can still take part in the discipline of the children and the nurtur

If it were a real job wouldn't you get paid by someone to do it ? I do get paid...in the fact that I've been there when my children walked, talked, went to school on the first day a little nervous, came home from that first day full of excitement, and tons of other important days and moments...and let's not forget the satisfaction of hearing the simple words "Thank you" or "I really appreciate what you do for us" from a spouse or a child. There are more important payments, IMO, than mon

I can go out with friends whenever I want. But I RARELY go out (i.e. 1 or 2 times PER MONTH). But how often can/does your wife go out with friends, and how often do the two of you go out together, without the children?

To most people I'm a bum. My in-laws think I am a waste of skin, I think, and others make a lot of excuses for me. All I can say is, those people are the ones missing out! :)

You can educate yourself at home, read, write, and generally be creative with your time. Many homemakers I know volunteer or substitute teach as well when their kids are in school. Exactly....I read, write (hence the username...LOL), work at the school, do needlework and scrapbooking, have the time to cook from scratch instead of opening up a box, etc. I loved teaching, but I honestly find this even more rewarding.

> My now 14 yr old daughter has always been one of those very friendly children, and I have always been concerned for her. I never wanted to stifle her bubbly, loving personality, but we have had MANY, MANY talks about what is appropriate with people we don't know, and what is not.....and until I was sure she "got it", I kept her very restricted, and did my best to never let her out of my sight.

I am also a homemaker, and IMO, being a wife and mother who stays at home is one of, if not THE most important job a woman can have. I stayed home when my children were infants, went back to work when they were all in school, and am back to staying home now that two are teens and one is almost there. I believe they need a strong parental presence now just as much as they did when they were small, and I love being able to be there for them at a moment's notice, as well as providing a welcoming pl

I don't know where you concluded from my article that people not explain right and wrong to their kids. Kids are often rebellious because that is the nature of the beast. They push the envelope to see how far they can get. If they see there is no boundary, they will keep pushing. When there are sound boundaries set, they move on. I SO agree with you here! From the time my children were little, and even as they have gotten older, we have talked about what is right and what is wrong, and

I agree with your sentiment completely!! I have three children--almost 18, almost 14, and 11--and they know without a doubt that the final say on what they do, who they are with, when they have to be home, etc., is Mom's. They don't have to like it, they just have to abide by it. When they were younger, they all tried the "running away" line a few times. After realizing my response would always be "Should I help you pack?" they eventually gave it up. Same with threats to call Childrens

A New Year’s Prayer May God make your year a happy one! Not by shielding you from all sorrows and pain, But by strengthening you to bear it, as it comes; Not by making your path easy, But by making you sturdy to travel any path; Not by taking hardships from you, But by taking fear from your heart; Not by granting you unbroken sunshine, But by keeping your face bright, even in the shadows; Not by making your life always pleasant, But by showing you
