I'll throw my hat in... I dislike the current system for special resources, it confused players and limits rather than expands on strategy options in my opinion. The current method is kind of a clever way of representing a flow economy where you are producing a stream of resources. You have 1 Durantium, because that is representative of "1 constant stream of Durantium" which a ship or trade, is then utilizing constantly. If the ship is d

Hrm. As in... the AI will place VISIBLE equipment in those spots, or as in, the model will animate weapon effects? Or Both?
By all means we can discuss here... I just might not be too hard working on the issue right now lol. Kinda on hiatus until a new version of GC or the stand-alone (ish) thing comes out...
" - More options and capabilities to mod custom races. Custom races can be linked to custom fleet packs and exported together, etc." This hasn't really been committed to before though. Certainly not for this particular update/expansion/etc.
Slowly getting back to work on GRM. Just wrapped up 5 new replacements for T3 Mercs. Going to see about replacing/renaming some custom components now.
And more importantly: How easy is it to customize a new race with a new tech tree now? Is there finally a tech tree viewer available?
I don't think I've seen anyone answer this. Currently you cannot create a customized/unique tech tree in-game. If you meant "can I pick a tech tree for my custom race, from the pre-existing tech trees?" Yes this is very doable. However, you cannot preview w
Awesome, enjoy!
Proper Accreditation, would be my request and assurance that at no point would you upload the ships to Steam. In the event that SD supports ACTUAL mods on Steam, most likely then, at that point, it would be fine.
Those are provided with the mod, did you purposely not copy them over?
No I haven't its on my to-do list... but I dislike modifying the race files beyond the in-game methods.
I'd also love to have a Sins 2. 1) Move away from an infinite economy model to a finite one (like it was in Sins beta at one point) so that attrition means something, will help with both spammy nature of the game and with deadlocks. 2) Somehow... make battles more decisive (#1 will help), it simply took too long for a large fleet to significantly hurt another large fleet. 3) Slightly smaller scale might actually be better. <
Sorry I missed this, long work week has begun :) I take it this is resolved and I don't really need to adjust version 4.9? Hrmm " HideFromSelection - Default is False" that is interesting... so basically I could disable a faction from being selected by the player?
Exactly! But now I think I got it, Horemvore! Due to GRM, and because I'm sort of a paranoid file/tester, I don't use any other mods at the same time as GRM so that I can ensure compatibility/etc. Which makes me very sad sometimes, because Horemvore's mods are excellent and I would absolutely consider them a must have for people trying to get the most out of their GC3 experience. I think in many ways Horemvore's work now nicely fills the gap that
Well aside from GRM, I'd say the diplomacy enhancements by Homervore [SP] is the best mod on the block :) I might bring it back for version 1.9 but I'm pretty frustrated with the file changes they keep making with these tiny versions, so I figure it might just be best to let it lie for a bit. Besides a lot of the UI stuff fixed the core issue GSM sought to address (starbase/constructor spam).
I would like to know their Purpose . For example, perhaps they speed up multiplayer connectivity by providing smaller compressed files to verify between players? I'd love to know what the real answer is.
Alrighty. New version of GRM up and running, version 4.9. In addition, under "updates" you can find a file pack for updating GRM 4.8 files to 4.9. Version 4.5 of GRM is available for those still on V1.8 of GC Version 4.8 of GRM is available for those still on V1.81 of GC Version 4.9 of GRM is available for those on V1.82 of GC Version 4.9 VS 4.5? 4.9 adds one race/ship-set and race portrait, also rehashes the TS shipset, designs, a
Sorry for the direct ask... but I'd really love to know why these new zip files exist in every folder where we have ship and object files. Essentially they are mirroring all the ship files and object files in their given folder. What for? I ask because its becoming a real hindrance to modding. I can mod additional ships into pirate factions or the like, but now their files need to be in the correct folder AND in some seemingly duplicate zip file. Its weird.
Sorry ArchCreature, not likely to happen right now! Annnd to anyone else, GRM seems to have yet another problem with the latest SD update/opt in. The Bazaar is making the game crash now. I'm working on it.
Those have been there forever... I just ignore them. Its everyone too. Not just you. Most likely they are campaign specific templates.
No idea. I literally never upload a ship design to Steam (sadly GC3/Steam doesn't support ship SETS yet). I do agree with Airmaster, some of my thumbnails of custom parts with custom parts attached to them, come out weird like this. I don't know how you would go about fixing that though.
That or "nuke it from orbit" only way to be sure. That being said you can safely skip the faction folder content I think, IE, portraits, backgrounds, and race files. But yeah, the designs for example, Need to be removed and replaced preferably, if you don't want extra unused designs messing things up.
Sounds like you are using the latest gc3 opt in... But you're using the standard GRM install... You need the experimental 4.8 GRM install instead to be compatible... Also GSM is not available for the opt in right now. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Hey there! Let me know how that works for you... in general, I am on hiatus until 1.9 comes out. The last update added new files to the file structure that seem... unnecessary... possibly even a mistake, so frankly I'm a little gunshy about continuing to mod right now, until I see that the recent file structure changes is retained from the current opt-in to their next major version.
Would be nice, but it doesn't exist. Paul mentioned we might get this one day in a live stream in a galaxy far away and a long time ago.
