Honestly, I probably put in 16 hour days in front of this thing for the first 3 weeks or so. But, I got things accomplished I never thought I'd be able to do. Procmail w/SpamAssassin, an XFT build of Moz running w/TT anti-aliased fonts, Samba and my WIN98SE box running together well, etc. It was worth the effort, and although a lot of work, very rewarding.
My subscription is almost ready to be renewed, but since early October, I've been using Redhat Linux 8.0, and to my amazement, I haven't looked back. I still check the WinCustomize site to see what's going on. You can bet, if I *do* move back to Windows, I'll be renewing my subscription. Nah, no particular problem. I reg'd BoxPack about 5 months ago (something like that), and during September there was a big banner on their site about the upcoming, amazing BoxIP 4.0. It never happened, and the site went dark.
Decent software, good support (for about 2 weeks after I reg'd), and now they're gone. Well, at least their site has been nothing back a black page for around a month now. The made a big splash here with a "news" story, and that's it. Once again, as far as I'm concerned, they have provided yet another reason to NEVER go for software that doesn't offer a trial. Who in their right mind, would put up an empty page on a commercial site?

I have a cable connection, and maintain a "standard" dial-up ISP for backup. However, I have used the more recent versions of AOL/Walmart connect, and once dialed in and minimized, you can go about doing whatever you want via the connection. It's not like it was back in the old versions. Access POP mail, browse with the browser of your choice, FTP, etc. In fact, it has (the last time I checked) an advantage many "standard" ISP's don't. BTW, I thought registered SkinBrowser users and users with a certain subscription level were supposed to have some sort of "priority" with respect to site access. Using SkinBrowser is so slow (cable connection) at the moment, it's a joke.
Chef Garry: Download the new library database from the menu. Shut down, SkinBrowser, re-start it, see what happens. BTW, thanks to those that recommended un-installing and re-installing. The version number is now correct. IMO, if that's necessary, the installer should notify the user via a dialog and/or simply initiate the uninstall and then re-install. It's reasonable to assume that an install over the previous version *should* update it correctly, but it doesn't.

It shows .99b on my system, as have the past 3 or 4 enh version updates I've grabbed (that's after deleting the orginal). Also, preview images are not being retrieved . .*again*! AFAIK, this is BS. What started out as a MSStyles to WB conversion thread, ended up with some good discussion, resolution, and ideas about UIS1 and UIS2 skins. Brad and a few other folks were good enough to tolerate my incessant ramblings about skinning issues I had with WB skins (and some apps), but wasn't seeing with MSStyles. I'll cut to the chase here. UIS1 skins make a world of difference! Jobeleca, when I was using dial-up, I moved over to Walmart-Connect at one point. It uses the AOL network for connectivity, which actually isn't half bad, gives you unlimited access, 7 screen names, and the last I checked it was still $9.94/month. Better still, you can access the screen name's e-mail via IMAP (as you can with CompuServe). For anyone that needs cheap (and yes, it is reliable) dial-up access, it's hard to beat.
