I dunno, but its different here in India. We PREFER generations to stay together at one place, We have the 'joint-family' system where grandparents, uncles and aunts, cousins, etc. all stay together. Yours would have been an ideal family, WOM, (except that the son stays with the family and the daughter goes to reside with the in-laws..) But as jake11 said, times are changing.
