Its okay to pray for girls? I believe that is something you would need to work for! Pseudosoldier--now I have a craving for chinese--thanks.
any chance they fired her for lying? Nah, that would be too bloody obvious.
It is at least 30 years old. Really? I could have sworn it was a new thing in 2003...they made a big deal about it an everything. Perhaps we are talking about two different things? Anyway. The study is flawed for a number of reasons. The first being that not everyone itemizes their taxes.
But the fact that the Northeast is the stingiest is not a matter of not itemizing as they are also the highest state tax states, and that alone lets them itemize, even without a mortgage According the US Government, approximately 60% of the population does not itemize their taxes. The study is flawed. I know you don't like the Northeast, Dr. Gu
in the recent studies on giving as a percentage of one's available income, the TOP 25 states in the survey were RED states; 9 of the 10 stingiest states were blue states). All that means is that the people in the red states are itemizing their taxes and getting credit for their deductions. I donate lo
good luck xtine. I hope you are able to work it out.
welcome back teegstar--I'm thrilled to hear that married life is treating you well!
Thanks for the link. The Belfast Telegraph had a similar article a couple weeks back about Higgins and Best (http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/opinion/story.jsp?story=668562) Also, I think that if you are talking Irish pop culture geniuses of the last half-century, you've got to have Bono in there, no?
(((Tex))). I am at a complete loss for words, but you guys are in my thoughts. And when it happens, can you give us Adrian's address in Iraq so we can send him some care packages?
Ah Tex, you certainly know how to flatter a girl I think I prefer your description rather than the real one! I've got blue eyes, long (but not as long as yours) brown hair, and my body is anything but smoking! As for cosmopolitan and couture type clothing--I think when I share that with my friends, they'll have a good l
Interesting article, Tex. It is sort of like when you read a book, and then they make a movie and you think, "no, she didn't look like that at all!" Ok, so I'll bite too--what do I look like in your mind's eye?
I love mine. And I was not on the iPod bandwagon until I got one (as a christmas gift from my boss last year). It's the 20 GB old version (no video screen), but it is perfect. I have a hook up for my car that cost me $25, and I can listen to endless music (commercial free) on all my drives. I think that Zoomba summed it up nicely--but I would also add that the benefit of an iPod (or similar device) over a cd is that it doesn't scratch, an
I'll chime in then...and even check out the pampered chef page!
Moderateman: Interesting article, though I am a bit skeptical about Miniter's book. I mean, if this was true, if they really did find WMD's wouldn't Bush and Blair be talking about it? Even if the media didn't cover the story, wouldn't there still be press releases and the whatnot sent out by the White House (and available at www.whitehouse.gov)? There aren't any, and I have a hard time believing that the President wouldn't hitch his wagon t
Many places near D.C., and even D.C. itself have banned smoking in the workplace, including bars and restaurants. This isn't actually true. Yes, counties in Maryland have smoking bans, but there is not one here in DC yet. On October 27, 2005, they voted for a smoking ban to start in January 2007. So,
I think that's an excellent way to look at it. More than anything, that's what I want for my children. But I also recognize that their choices reflect their character, so the more tangible aspects of their lives can be a measure of their success. I agree completely. But I suppose it is human nature to make poor choices (or mistakes if you will)
I'm hoping that this wasn't a spin off from my comment on Tova's thread. I will assume that it is not, though it feels an awful lot like it might be. I think "just fine" has more to do with the character of a person than whether or not they were the top of their class, or a CEO of a major corporation, or anything like that.
OK, so I read back through this...and... I didn't pat myself on the back. I didn't make statements about working mothers. I described a situation where a stay-at-home-mom I know is neglecting her child. The only real assertion I made about parenting is that it's not good to have older children raising the younger ch
My problem is not so much "working moms" (I was a working mom myself for several years) as it is the whole "chasing your tail to buy crap and spending no time with your kids" deal (...)And just as an FYI, what I found horrible and disgusting was Dr.Guy's characterization of the stay-at-home moms on Tova's thread as "fat, lazy, an
Then RE READ it. It's not about us patting ourselves on the back. It's a rant because I have so many "working" moms who expect me to do things for their kids they aren't willing to do themselves. When I meet a mom who works full time that handles it all on her own without a bunch of other people carrying her slack, I will let you
You are SERIOUSLY misrepresenting the exchange on Tova's thread, Dr.Guy TW--you know I think you are great, right? Ok, keep that in mind I don't think Dr. Guy is misrepresenting it all that much. There's a l
See I don't believe this.....I think its one of the GREAT LIES women in this country believe. Can you be a mom? SURE. Can you have a Career? SURE. But you can't have them BOTH at the same time. Quality time is bs made up to suit selfish people. Kids want QUANTITY time. I'm going to have to agree with Ka
My brother and I stayed home from the time he was 10 and I was 8...after school until my mom came home. The neighbors kept the key and ratted us out if we did anything bad. We turned out fine. In fact, I'm much closer to my parents now than many people my age, and definitely a lot closer than those of my friends who had stay at home moms. Each to their own, right? That said, Tova--I'd be more than a little annoyed if my kid's friend's pare
Nicky: I'm late to the game, as always. I can not imagine that this was an easy blog for you to write, but as always, it's got style and class. Best of luck working through this situation.
