Hi,
I've started running into this nasty situation where I decide I want to roll out carriers, so I do the necessary research and start pumping 'em out. I go about my business, and then it becomes time to send my uber carrier fleet into battle. And I kick myself in the shin because I realize half of those carrier cruisers are empty, I forgot to cue up a fighter or a bomber wing when it came out. This is a serious problem because a full squad of bombers takes forever to build and the furball has already began.
I started getting in the habit of making sure to cue up a fighter wing as soon as the carrier pops out, but this gets very tedious when I'm cuing up 20 or 30 carriers and 5 different factories across the map. Every 40 seconds or so i have to drop what I'm doing, click around the map and cue up a fighter wing at that carrier. This becomes even more frustrating when I start using rally points, because the carriers are moving, and could be passing through any one of 20+ grav wells by the time I get around to looking for them.
What I would like to know is whether or not there is a better way to ensure my newly built carriers start buildilng strike craft as soon as possible without having to hunt down each individual one as they finish being built?
An extension to the Filter functoin to "Find Carriers" would be very useful, that way I can just check from time to time how many unused strikecraft slots I've got and fill them without having to hunt around the map. And even better, I could see at a glance my global fighter/bomber ratio.
Any advice? Perhaps there's a way to do this already, I just had the idea that there might be a hotkey for "select all x unit type on the map." That woudl be fabulous if there was.
