Which version of SoaSE to buy?

Hi!  If it was just me, I'd just by SoaSE: Rebellion, but in my case, I'm purchasing it to play a LAN vs game with a friend who has SoaSE (but not Rebellion).  That being the case, do I need to buy Trinity in order to play vs games with him? Or will the game automatically "pare down" to the original if I buy Rebellion?

Sadly Rebellion does not let you run earlier versions like Trinity does. So yes if playing with your friend is very important to you, I guess you'd have to go with trinity. Your friend is missing no less than 3 expansions though, so the best answer might be to wait for a Steam sale or something where you get Rebellion and your friend upgrades.

What GoaFan77 said is right, you'll need to have Trinity or earlier to play with them. I think the best course of action here is to buy your friend Rebellion and yourself Rebellion! If you subscribe to our Entertainment mailers, we occasionally send out coupons.
