I am in IT support, and a couple of our users (including a VIP) just can't stand having their taskbar horizontal since they upgraded to Windows 11. They tried a free option (Windhawk) but that set off our EDR (next-gen AV) and the security team doesn't want it allowed. Does Start11 trigger any security alerts in the way it hooks into the OS to mess with the taskbar?
No.
However inferior AV products can signal 'false positives' due to their less-than-ideal management of their signature updates.
Thanks. Our EDR is not signature-based but rather detected and flagged the process injection being done by Windhawk. Perhaps Start11 uses some other technique to make changes.
Hello,Just to be sure, would like to suggest doing the 30 days free trial and see if your Antivirus work with Start11.
Thank you,Basj,Stardock Community Assistant.
I’ve used Start11 at work on a few machines, and in my experience it hasn’t triggered any alerts on standard EDR/AV setups. It hooks into the shell like classic Start menu tools, but it’s signed and pretty “clean” compared to some free mods like Windhawk. That said, it’s always possible some stricter corporate policies could flag it, so testing on a non VIP machine first is the safest move.
