DesktopX widgets gone AWOL or won't load

Hi, I have mistakenly deleted the Silica Translator widget and cannot seem to find it anywhere even if I go to the recycle bin or try and find it using the search function.

I'm also having problems loading up individual widgets. Downloading is not a problem but when I try and load them I am getting a message saying that this is not a valid DesktopX widget which seems a bit odd since it was in the DesktopX widget section that I have found them.

Any help out there please?

Some of the "widgets" in the widget gallery are actually "Gadgets". Gadgets won't import into the DX Builder, which it sounds like you are doing--they must be run from the exe. Also, many widgets are configured to be run from the exe, and should only be imported into the builder for examination / editing.

A reinstall of DX might get back the translator widget.

Reinstall worked great, thanks.

Regarding running gadgets, when downloading I just run it do I? How does the gadget then get saved?

Oh, I'm sorry, I don't use Interent Explorer, and often forget it has that step. What I meant was, go ahead and save the file you download to your hard drive. It is probably a zip file, so you need to extract the archive, usuallly by double clicking then selecting a place to save the contents.

Then, once you have the extracted files, there should be an *.exe and maybe a readme. That exe file is either a gadget or a widget. Both gadgets and widgets can be run by simply double-clicking the exe. Widgets can also be "imported" into the DesktopX Builder for editing--gadgets are "as-is" only.
