How do you get planets to flip to you?

I did this one time without even trying in another game. In my current game I am trying to get a race to flip to me. They have some planets inside my spheres on influence. I have built several buildings for influence like that restaurant or whatever it is that can be only 1. I have all the influence stuff on nearby planets and I have researched a fair way up the cultural tree and in 1 case I have 5 influence starbases around 1 planet and all upgraded ALL the way up. Still they won't flip to me. I am spending 70 bc on inflitration so I see what they are up to. My planets near them are at 100% happy too.

What am I missing? What do I need to get planets to start flipping to me?

Good luck and patience. Once you have 4 times the native influence, a skull and crossbones appear. If their happiness is below 70, then it's merely a matter of time before it flips.

It doesn't hurt to be mining an influence resource, either. Last game I played, I had one influence resource, and the races were converting to me so quickly, it was almost embarrassing. Of course, I'm playing at a lower difficulty level right now, but it still seemed too easy that time. I've found it also helps to have a higher number of your own colonies. That seems to "supercharge" all your abilities (at least, it did for me).

You can always send in a fleet of troop carriers filled with "armed persuasion technicians" to "flip" those who are opposed to you back into their sub-atomic precursors.

How do you tell how much influence you have compared to there native one? Where is that stat?

Click on the planet, it says how much influence the planet is producing, and the number in parenthis is how much influence you have in that area in comparison (ie 4 means 4 times as much)

But you need espionage for that, just look for the red skull

Thanks, you made my day!

If they're minors, they won't flip. If they're Yor, they likely won't flip. If they're Thalan, it'll be a little harder to flip them. And if they have propaganda centers or whatnot, they'll be harder to flip.
