Cool!!! It looks like we will get the CD of the full game sent to us!!!!

I just read the news item on the front page:
"owever, be aware that when the GAMMA become available, we will be closing updates to all but a handful of beta testers for security purposes. You'll be able to continue playing the beta but subsequent builds won't be available until release at which time you'll get the CD-ROM version sent to you."

So the people that bought the beta and full version will get the full vrson on CD... I hope this means they will just ship us the retail box version that will be in stores... The part about us not getting anymore updates is a bummer but that means I will really be excited when I receive the full version in the mail!!

why won't they just let people download the full version instead of sending CD? it's much faster that way, cheaper, and more efficient

I bought the Complete Drengin Package and thought that the download option would always be there.

I don't care about getting a cd but will be really disapointed if I have to wait t'il I get one to play the full game.

Gotta luv cable modems.

Elrikk, you will probably recieve the cd way before it hits the streets, since if they don't have to "package" it in the boxed set, it's just a matter of enveloping and stamping :-)

I guess I am still of the old school... I like having a CD in my hand... I have bought other games On-Line that I had to D/L but then later when I changed computers and wanting to play the game again I could never find all my paperwork so I could D/L it again...

I for one do not mind the extra wait for the CD(Boxed version I hope) to be mailed to me...

I thought it would be obvious that you would still be able to download.

That is cool.. Frogboy. If we get it mailed to us, will it just be the CD or the Retail Boxed edition that the stores receive???? I would love to have the boxed edition mailed to me if possible...

Thanks for the Info...

Well. I am hoping the box comes with a printed manual..

I really dont need the box.... :D :D :D :D

Yes, a more complete manual would be nice.

Can't promise anything on the box and printed manual. I'll see if Strategy First will send us copies but they're not obligated to.

Thanks Frogboy!!!! Let's hope Strategy First will do it. Tell them that since we all bought the beta and suppored the game early on, they should reward us with the boxed edition... :D :D

I hate to say this, but I bought the game and I don't get a printed manual? I don't care about the box, but I want the manual - there was nothing that indicated that I wouldn't get a full game - which includes the manual IMO. I've certainly paid enough that I should get a manual.

I expect a full copy of the game, including manual. I paid fifty dollars for this game 2 years ago and the least Stardock should do is provide a complete copy of the game to those who help fund and market the development. You can bet it will my last purchase of a Stardock product if I don't.

Calm down everyone... Frogboy said he would try and I am sure he will... besides I do believe that on the Stardock page it did say you get the full game by D/L...

I really do hope that Stardock can send the boxed game to all the people that bought the beta... It only makes sense....

Just Read another post from FrogBoy and I have now put 2 and 2 together:

Frogboy wrote:

"3) General security. There's a lot of additinal goodies we've been holding back, mainly multimedia stuff that we want to wait until the final version. We don't want the game to "feel" old when it comes out to the beta group."

When they add the multimedia stuff this game will probable be 400meg's or bigger.. So it will makse sense to mail out CD's instead of asking people to D/L the final game...

Kuroth said "When they add the multimedia stuff this game will probable be 400meg's or bigger ...".

With all of the bits, pieces, and hints I have seen on this forum wouldn't you expect the size to be 800M minimum? The multimedia download is already over 340Megs, and the game download itself is over 54Meg.

Hay what a sec...

When I D/L the multimedia download it was like 160Megs... Did I not get the right one???? I never saw any D/L that was 340Megs????? :notsure: :notsure:

Hmm, I had about 160-180 megs I think myself.
You sure about that size, Jack?

I also had the 160-180meg download. (And I remember counting each meg as they downloaded over the days and days of downloading....I living too far away from DSL, or unable to get cable, or being in a "far-too-remote" location to get Satelite....And I only live 45 minutes from Boston. The world is against me.)

I just went and checked the properties for my \Drengin\Galciv folder. It says 297 MB - and this is including the MM package

why are you in a far too-remote location to get satellite? You should stiil be in the footprint unless your line of sight is obstructed.

Odd, I just checked mine (393MB - 93MB for savegmaes folder give apporx 300MB). But i could swear the download package for MM was 340 MB at one time.

That's what they tell me... Just last year I was living 5 minutes down the road and had a great DSL line. But no more, the Internet Gods have banished me for the time being.
