Re-Post #2 - would somebody please respond? - Cannot update my laptop install + Memory usage

The lights seem to be on...

I sent an e-mail and never got a response (and this is the third time that I have posted on the forum):

PROBLEM #1:

I read about GalCiv2 ont he forums at paradoxplaza.com. Loved MOO & MOOII but never played many other space 4X games (sure I played MOO3, that 5X game to find out that the fifth X stood for "Xcrutiating"). Love the game but here's the question/problem:

I also want to run it on my laptop as my PC is not always available (like if I'm on the road or, for that matter, the couch). I can install it fine of course but when I install the update to 1.1 I get the error "The product appears to be validated but the serial number or the SID don't match."

Now right #2 of the license agreement says I can install it to my laptop (I am the primary user on both machines) and i would also like to update it to the latest version.

Any assistance would be appreciated - thank you.

Problem #2: Memory usage. Playing on Humongously Gigantic map (Win2K, Athlon 64 3000+, 1Gb Ram, NVidia 6800 LE, etc.) I have Task Manager Performance monitor running on my 2nd monitor. I run GalCiv2 and the save game file loads in like 1/20th of a second and then I watch my CPU usage immediately go up to 100% and over ther the span of about 3 minutes my memory usage climbs from 180K to almost 1.8 before the game loads (w/no hard disk access at ALL until the 1 Gb of physical memory is used up).

What's going on over there where you are?!? Quite amusing, really!!

Thanks for your kind attention.

I've pointed Problem #2 over to someone else, but for #1, you can install it to your laptop. If you have an existing sig.bin file on your laptop, delete it, and then reactivate GalCiv II either via the activation dialog that pops up or through Stardock Central.
