"Too" slow for what? If you're having a problem it's on your end.

Neil, works fine for me.

my graphix card is not good. per-pixel's image order gets messed up. my cursor goes behind window borders and start button overlays go behind the start menu, also it slows down the computer.

I did a scan and it did not find spyware.

The word on the street is that it is a XP bug when a transparent taskbar is in use. Use a skin with a normal taskbar and the problem should go away. I know its not what you wanted to hear but here we are.

Why say windowblinds is slow when you know your Vid card sucks?

I had a similar problem, especially with the per pixel stuff when it came out in wb5. My vid card did not support it. I got a lot of great advice on cards and went with the minimum of what I would need. It only cost me $39 (money is an issue here..lol).
I got an Nvidia geo force 5500 and it works great and I have had no more problems.

Maybe you can manage something better, but I would definitely consider upgrading the card.

btw...have or did you check your system info on the wb configuration panel, it can helpful to you and for help if you post the results here.

The reason WB is slow is because you have Style XP on there as well. This is a conflict. The theme service needs to be turned off for WB while it needs to be turned on for Style Xp. You get alot more with WB. Remove Style Xp, go to msconfig and turn off the the Themes services, then you will have no problems. As long as you keep Style XP on your computer it will keep activating your theme services on it's own, even if it is disabled.

By the way Po, that's a nice new avatar you have there!

I don't think that is entirely accurate. I have no probs at all running Windowblinds with theme service still running.
It was my understanding that the entire "turning off the theme service" was purely a sales point.
I think it was something like... WB5 would use less memory with the theme svc off as opposed to standard luna with theme service running. (which I still refuse to swallow as I have disproved that repeatedly on my own system)...
Anyway.. David, your issues stem from a POS video card. Update it if at all possible.

Thanks.

I think for the proper help to be given, some system info would be useful. I originaly had 256mb of memory and an intergrated vid card which ate up some of that memory. Going with a 128mb vid card freed up my memory, I got a card that supported per pixel, and even added another 256mb to my memory (thanks to DZ) and it made all the difference in the world.

So, David, if you could post the system info from your WB Configuration window, it would surely help and end a lot of the debate, I'm sure.
