Po'-- with the extra ram & improved graphics, it must have been like a new machine!

I didn't have an integrated card, but my card was old. It took up part of the ram load, but didn't have alpha per-pixel accelleration. Night Train passed along a card that wasn't up to his needs, but it's great for me. I didn't have slowing from WB before or after the new card, but I'm truely enjoying the full benefits.
Thanks again, NT!

I'm using a NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X and I never have any problems other than once in a blue moon my cursor will go behind windows borders. But that seems to happen after playing a game. I never experience any slowdowns.

Please point one example out.

ok. help me find that "new styler release" thread please

*edit* found it

Why would you want to do thqat to your pc?????? Poor fools......WB is the only way to go....

with the obvious biases of the community here set aside

Threi,
The bias you speak of is not based upon the community here. It is based on real, proven trial by multitudes of experienced end users of products. WB is without question a far superior product to the alternative dll hack with a fancy front end.
It would serve you well to ponder this aspect before adventuring into the murky waters of which you are about to explore ( or give indication thereof).

I haven't even updated my drivers since I reformatted.

David....I tried StyleXP before switching to Windowblinds and it is not as effective, certainly no faster. Your issue with slowness is most likely related to the video card, and an upgrade there would most likely resolve that.

Besides, StyleXP is limited in what it can do and doesn't have all the options of Windowblinds and Stardock's suite of programs.....

Absolutely!!!

I'm presently using the 84.21 driver version and it works fine in case your considering updating it.

And as far as StyleXp vs WindowBlinds...I only had to see one word which made me decide what I was going to use...hack. There are enough problems in pc's regarding .dll files...so why would anyone want to add to them?

Huh? Where does it say that? You should have an Nvidia Folder that would show your driver version listed...do you have one of them?

You would be far better off to use Windowblinds 4.5 instead of StyleXP, if you can't afford that new Graphics-Card. I am thinking Toolbaricons, Shell-Styles, Animations.....all things that StyleXP can't do but WindowBlinds 4.5 does!

But i patched the uxtheme.dll to allow skins.
That means you are no longer actually using the 'Windows theme services' but a back-yarder's hacked version. Good luck with that...

look at this screen https://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SID=1&SkinID=16047&LibID=13&comments=1 Link you can see the problem.

Thats my screen >_>. I have experienced NO problems with windowblinds o_O. I get the occasional border problem when I haven't restarted my computer in days, and I do lots of heavy work (dreamweaver, photoshop, etc.).

What exactly is the problem in my image ?

Oh, if I could read I would have seen it was about the start button thing? Thats cause I was using tclock (thats what I use to skin my clock) to make the taskbar a little more transparent for the screenshot . My start button doesn't normally overlay if I don't use extra transparancy:

. I use nVidia 5200 >_>

Forget WindowBlind 4.5, get WindowsBlinds 5.0, it leaves 4.5 for dead with a heap more of enhancements, but get the best graphic's card you can afford, its the engine for your entire desktop and more!!

He has Windowblinds 5, and is experiencing troubles with it. His graphics card doesn't appear to support all the features and enhancements over 4.6. I would much rather use 4.6 than use a program that doesn't work perfectly (or near perfect) for me. You can get some amazing skins for 4.6 .

So David, if you can get your hands on a better graphics card, do that for sure. If not, 4.6 is great . Good luck .

the hacked version allowes me to install themes. i am still using xp themes.
also does any body know of a skin manager like wb but for windows themes?
i can use iconpackager for icons and y'z toolbar for toolbar icons.
i agree - windowblinds 4.6 is really the way to go if 5.0 doesnt work properly
