Daily Love Tip #3
Pause Before Responding To An Angry Or Critical Remark

Never allow anger to control you. In no place is this more important than in your marriage. Practice self-control by pausing for ten seconds before you answer an angry or critical remark.
When you respond too quickly, you tend to overreact and fan the flames of conflict. A timely pause not only give you a chance to speak calmly, rationally and thoughtfully, but it also provides an opportunity for your mate to reconsider their words. It's difficult to maintain a loving home life if we allow anger to engage us in conflict. But it will do wonders for your relationship when you handle volatile situations with finesse.
Personal note: This has not been an issue with my husband and I, thankfully...in one year of marriage, and a year of living together prior to that, we have only had one real argument....the rest of the time we've managed to discuss things calmly and rationally. However, this little tip comes in handy on message boards quite often for me...it even helped me to decide to walk away from a few where people were pushing my buttons on an almost daily basis....and boy, is life a LOT calmer without that daily drama! LOL
