Stick to the plan

some free writing rambling

I went to bed early so I could write about you,
and all the ways you've made my solid world come unglued,
it would be untrue,
to say that I'm not affected,
by the direction this has taken me so unexpected,

Though I expect to be a little thrown off course, I can still make par,
and if you're the cowgirl, I'm the horse, and I'll gallop off far.

To a new familiar place that can spell out "home,"
where cafe conversations are never interrupted by cell phones,
I'm seldom alone...but in everyway,
when I am my own thoughts won't even give me the time of day,

you're kind to say...that you've been thinking of me,
and I'm trying too hard to find some solice in this tragedy.

and I have...done the math, and it all adds up,
but I simply can't compute the equation to figure out what equals love,

Cause we all have remainders, and baggage left over,
stop the car by the dumpster and I'll discard this crap and pick up that 4-leaf clover.

Not that I believe in luck or fate,
no one wants to play games when they start out in checkmate.

Just don't forget that we make the rules,
and we guide the principles and the hands that use these tools...
to fuse together,
to dismantle,
to create,
and creation and destruction are the only true fate....If I'm too late,
then you're right on time,
and if you hesitate, then you're the one I want to call mine,
and I'll be yours if we coordinate in style,
and we're able to aggravate those seeking speed bumps at my 44th mile,
a smile comes over my lips,
and these weary hands reach in the dark for your hips,
and each of these words has a tendency to slip...and falls,
but in spite of it all....I'm a better man,
and since the beginning, I suppose that was the real plan.
