Oops ... Did I Really Do That?

Mine was just as stupid. kept wondering why i couldnt get closer than 'friendly' with the altarians a couple of games ago. too 20-30 minutes before i realised i had the trade embargo button checked

I had the Dregin, the yor and the Torian all allied against me, I managed to get a peace treaty with the Yor & Drengin easily enough but the Torians were only interested in anhilating me, so in a desperate attempt to buy peace i offered them 5000 BC plus a few techs, unfortunatly i forgot to actually ask for the peace treaty and ended up giving a civ that was hell bent on destroying me a nice cash and tech gift!!!

Maybe the new players should read this post ... they might learn something from these funny happenings LOL

I did the same thing some days ago ! LOL

Middle of a game, things were going well. Set espionage to full on all races in order to avoid pesky wars. But, I forgot to turn it off after reaching "advanced". Only after five years of spending 2500 BC/turn on espionage do I figure out why my economy is in the tank.

Yikes!! I guess you knew all about them by then! LOL

I forgot that I auto-launched a colony ship and used it to colonize a PQ 14. Nothing like 2000 colonists on a PQ14 to crush morale! Had to destroy the colony and send another colony ship to it. Wasted several turns.

Lots of income from the Alexians (my best friends). Not thinking clearly and decided to take one of their planets to extend my range. Oops - they only had one planet.

With friends like you, who needs enemies? LOL LOL

Sounds like a starbase would have been less expensive.

I was working my way through a game. It was about an hour and half almost two hours into it when I realized that there would be no hope of a military victory. The Drengin controlled about 65% of the known galaxy and I the other 35%, but I was far superior to them in terms of technology, treasury and everything but military. So I was going to go for a technology victory. I was cruising along nicely, had about 5 techs left to go then I realized that I only had military and alliance victory conditions selected, so I wasted almost an hour (not quite 40 minutes) pursuing something that I would never get. I had to settle for an alliance victory. that took more time as well considering I had to become 'close' to them.

Oh, yes, sounds familiar... that's one of my favorite things to do... grrr..

I once gave a few excaliburs to a minor race so they could distract my arch enemy (the Drengins in this game). Guess what? I gave them accidentally to a race I was at war with... and was losing to... oops...

There was the time, on a gigantic map, I wanted to buy off the last few pennies on a minor project, had to swap from all social to all research spending to do it, and forgot to change the spending back to social. I paid about 12000 into max research... to research Stellar Cartography. Oops.

A few games back i was preparing an alpha strike against the Arcean their military was about 3-times my own, so Alpha strike was the only. I figured i would take them in 1 turn, so no reason to defend those 8 eight fully developed starbases - doh.

I forgot that they have one turn whitout any planets and in that turn they took on of minors planets and destroyed 7 of my starbases.

I have something similar just be overlooking one of the AI's planets darn...that out to teach me not to trust blindly in Alpha strikes.

I have mixed up the Torians and the Yor on occasions. I've declared war on the wrong ones by mistake, when I meant to attack the other!

...So I meet up with the Dmer (or whoever those terrorists are) and they're way across a gigantic galaxy... I don't pay them much attention until they poison one of the nearby Altarian planets. Being friends with them (not allies), I decide to role play and pay those Dmer a visit with my excalibur and a few transports.

So of course my excalibur gets there way before my transports, and I decide I need to soften up the Dmer fleet because I was bored. (The Altarians are too afraid to do this, since they were cash-strapped and couldn't build any ships... hmmm, I wonder who did this to them? Some friend I am...) LOL

Anyways, I attack with my excalibur - an emergency vote OK's my actions, and I leave it on auto-attack so I could attend to other matters of import within my Empire...

Meanwhile, my excalibur has succesfully destroyed all spaceborne Dmer and decides to attack the Dmer homeworld! Argh! My transports are still a few sectors away and my excalibur destroys ALL the ships on the Dmer homeworld in one turn... and before I can do anything, the Altarians walk in and take the Dmer over... All that hard work and then they get the credit for stomping the Dmer... grrr...

Not that *I've* ever done that to any of the AI's, mind you... [innocent look]

A recent game is one im not likely to forget ... I started a new game and thought 'Hey, why not change the AI to random morality' ... Big mistake.
LOL I only had a few systems but lots of planets so i rushed the tech tree to battle hammers and attacked the Torian in the sector next to me, little did i know ALL the AI's had ended up being Saintly (:( they all joined together and i had the biggest war i have ever had, so far took some real brainwork to win, and what do i end up with?? my worst Galciv score ever
