THQ has announced that the first expansion for the critically acclaimed Titan Quest is scheduled to hit retailers in early 2007. Titan Quest: Immortal Throne will expand the original's story by transporting it from the swamps of the Mediterranean to the depths of Hades. Iron Lore Entertainment has been selected to remain the developer of their title's expansion.
"The summer release of Titan Quest marked a strong global success for THQ on both a critical and commercial level," said Bob Aniello, senior vice president of worldwide marketing, THQ. "Titan Quest: Immortal Throne will provide the large existing fan base with exciting new content."
"We're excited to continue working with THQ to provide fans with the fast-paced, story-driven gameplay that made Titan Quest a global success," said Brian Sullivan, president and lead designer, Iron Lore Entertainment. "With eight new character classes, an entirely new epic underworld to explore, and dozens of other new features, the expansion takes the game's character development and player immersion to the next level."
The expansion is slated to offer 12 more hours of single-player gameplay per difficulty level. New gameplay features are to include skill mastery which will combine with the existing masteries to create eight new playable classes. The expansion will also expand the roster of monsters by a few dozens, add hundreds of unique weapons and allow an additional ten levels of character and skill development.
