About Good and Evil looks

Let's say you play as an evil guy, but you prefer the way things look when you play good, is it possible to change it to suite your preferences without changing the way you play?

Not as of right now, Im afraid. Perhaps we could take a cue from console games and allow you to "unlock" this feature. You can instantly set the skin of your UI to any type you've beaten the game as (ex. you beat the game as evil, you can switch to the evil interface whenever you want).

I want the blood pack! See, when you turn evil the screen changes and gets redder and nastier and eventually, drops of blood start dripping from the corner of the screen then begins to cover more and more of the screen the more evil you get and then you hear diabolical laughter as you destroy the universe and then and and....and......uh...er... nevermind. I will go away now.

hmmm...

Keep in mind we have to keep this game in the "E for Everyone" boundary. The bloody screen may cross that line a tad bit. Keep any *non-gory* suggestions coming, though! ;)

What about a skin with all sorts of electronic stuff and wires ?
Something like those borgcubes look from the inside or so heh.

Dang, what about a new skin for the type of path you follow ? (Where you choose the party you start with)
like a technicall looking skill for research, a warskin (would look slightly damaged from all the wars), Trade skin type (with all sorts of numbers and stuff, etc.

That would make a nice addition to the game, ofcourse this only aids to the feel of the game and doesn't affect gameplay :)
(Maybe something for the bonuspack or beyond?)
Would take some work, since there would be 3 types of skins for the warparty, merchant, etc (Good, neutral, evil)

What about that ? :)

How about having the skins / robot news reporters appear more battered and damaged as you lose sectors and planets. The more you lose the worse they look. As you regain sectors and the tide of war changes their appearance returns back to normal.

It's really too bad that we dont have some kind of 3d engine to support some of these ideas. If we did, it would be a matter of skinning... pRobot->SetSkin("DamageLevel02") or pgsGameScreen->SetSkin(GOOD_DAMAGELEVEL02), when we're setting the textures of already functional controls or animations. But since the engine is 3d, we'd literally have to render out a different robot for each damage level (with each animation about 5 megs a peice), meaning 3 damage levels x 3 morality levels x 5 megs per animation == 45 extra megs of animtion just for the new robots :sniff!: One possibility would be to implement something a bit mroe subtle, like with the ship-data window. Perhaps have 3 different states for the currently selected ship (perfect, a bit hurt, and near death). This wouldn't be SO bad, but would still be an extra 5-10 megs with all the animations that go with it, and again, if we have different morality states for the ship data window...things just get compounded. :( What it all comes down to is, I think Brad should let us purchase the Unreal2 engine :CONGRAT: hehe

Lol please not the unreal 2 engine :)
My poor gf2mx can't pull that for life hehe (running at 245/245mhz already)

Might be nice to implant the ship thingy :D

Heh, this sounds like the game could be on dvd rather then on cd if all the (good) features ever requested got in lol.
