How to capture image for use with Icon Developer

Hello. I use Icon X and some icons don't show like they should because they are a different format than the program uses. I am trying to use Icon Developer to change the format of my Lightscribe icon but when I open the Lightscribe folder no icons show. Does anyone have any ideas? I will read the help file again to see if I am missing anything ( I probably am) but in the meantime I thought I would post here. Thanks.

Are you looking for *.ico files?  Try changing it to *exe, I'll bet you'll see the icon you want.

Hello Zubaz. They are already .exe files. I've been trying to figure out how to get them to bmp, jpg or *.ico files without messing up the original.

Open Icondeveloper
If you haven't turned of the splash screen, choose "Open Icon"
If you turned of the welcome splash, choose 'file' - 'open'
type of file - Icon (ico, icl, exe, dll)
browse to the programs .exe - click it and choose open (or double click it) - if there's an icon in there it will then show up in IDev.

You can then either 'file' - 'export' or double click it in the left pane of IDev.
If you export, then you can drop an icon where you can find it to use with IconX

If you double click then you can choose specific ones (ctr+left click)

Once picked, 'file' - 'export selected icons as' and choose your format (bmp, png, tga, gif) export them to where you can find them. you can use all (except gif) as is for iconX or use them for visuals to create your own.

alternate: browse to the folder with the .exe - put 'view' on thumnail
take a screen shot, paste into graphics program.
crop and edit to suite.
save as png, bmp, and use with IconX or save as whatever IDev will take (then open in IDev, create an icon)
