General Homsar's "Whine and Rant" Board!

Need to blow off some steam, but don't think mass genocide of Torians will do the trick?Don't worry, because this is the board for you! Here's my rant: That hundreds of monumentally stupid lawsuits pop up every day, and some even make it to court. For example: Filing HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS against hair salons that charge more for women's hair-cuts.

But what if I hate them both for being fat, lazy, unrepresenting you-know-whats. I don't like EITHER party - the two party system is gonna kill America. The lesser of two sucks still sucks.

Havn't you watched the simpsons? They explain it perfectly when the two evil aliens are revealed as the two main candidates. They still get elected!! because you have no 'real' choice.. "go on, waste your vote on a minority party" hehehehe

Back to traffic...
I hate how when I try to merge, the oncoming cars speed up trying to prevent anyone from being in front of them. The other day on my way home I was merging with a 45mph speed zone. I was merging at a speed of 60mph and nearly got plowed over...and then the guy had the nerve to pass me and slow down.

You or he must have missunderstood the speed limit. If not, then he is a ****

Here is my view about letting people in... in the past when i have generously let somone in, they repay my kindness by driving 20k under the speed limit! so the lesson i learn't from that is to never let anyone in full stop.

Traffic... I could complain about traffic too. I HATE jerk drivers. If you need to go 90 so badly that you pull up behind me on a two line highway (trailer taking up the other lane) and flash your brights and honk to get me to go faster, you need to wake up earlier or leave the house earlier, plain and simple

I hate people who block the faster lane, driving next to a slow vehicle like a truck so no one can get past. Those people really don't give a shit about anyone but themselves.

when the slower car is already 10 mph over the speed limit your on your own

People going slower than the speed limit but block the faster lane are the ones i'm talking about.

Even so, if i'm already going 5kph over the speed limit in the fast lane and somone behind me looks like they wan't to get past, i make an effort to get out of their way. For all i know, they could be trying to rush a sick child to the hospital, so it is still wise and thoughtful to get out of their way even when exceeding the speed limit.

It is the latter case, they were being an ***. I drive that way home everyday. It is 45mph for its full length...and as I said, I was not merging slow like a lot of people do.

Now that's some courteous driving! Good man Mystikmind.

I don't know why tailgating bothers the person in front? I mean it's their risk, and their not doing anything to interfere with your driving? A tailgator just wan'ts to get past, not kill and eat your grandmother!

If somone tailgates me in a situation where i am unable to let them pass, then i just think their unwise, but it dousn't annoy me, why should it?

Thanks, but i think you missed my quote on letting people in!! lol -

2 reasons

1 if you have to stop the guy behind you cant

2 it distracts the person in front specailly if they have their stupid high beams on at night

I did have one really fun week where I got hit by tailgaters from behind (obviously) in the exact same spot on the freeway on the way home two days in a row...I do care!

It's in the middle of a metro area in rush hour traffic. Where did they think they were going to go?

This is a good thing if your own an old car like me thats worth nothing! Last time somone ran into the back of me i got $1000.00 bucks from their insurance and fixed my car just enough to be roadworthy. Took me about an hour to fix it so that's a nice profit!!

So yea if you own a newer car then the devaluation from the damage would make the insurance payout less profitable, but still, in most cases you will end up in front... might not make up for the inconvinience of the accident tho - somthing for the stingy insurance company to think about!

[quote]2 it distracts the person in front specailly if they have their stupid high beams on at night

That's pretty dumb, since a person behind who is not tailgating but using high beams will piss you off just as much.

Why complain, think of all that lovely insurance money flowing in!

They were probably trying to stop divers (cars jumping in front from another lane).

Speaking of divers, they do force most people to tailgate, including me!

Since some asseholes suddenly dive in front of you from another lane and you nearly run into the back of them as a result, it is actually safer to tailgate the car in front to stop them doing it!!

no it is better to back off if it happens than take a chance on killing someone to just keep someone else from cutting you off

yes i know that could get someone killed too

i had a guy come up behind me once on the freeway in san fran. rush hour traffic no where to go and started blinking his lights wanting me to get out of his way so i did the only thing i could i slowed down

and when i got near my exit i changed lanes and he charged up one car link to slow down again

also in salt lake city this option will not protect you the drivers there will come over even if you are sitting right beside them

i know i had one driver run me off the road

hahaha, thats funny. I never hear of anyone being hurt from getting hit from behind from a tailgator (except of course those that pretend to be hurt so they can sue).

You will find that serious injuries from rear end collisions have nothing to do with tailgating at all. They are caused by other reasons.

Obviously if a car is tailgating it will be too close to be capable of causing a serious accident unless it is a big truck or has 007 missiles installed up front!

also in salt lake city this option will not protect you the drivers there will come over even if you are sitting right beside them

hahaha yea some people consider themselves such superior beings that they just expect other lower life forms to move out of their way.

if you hit your brakes and the guy behind you is distracted becouse he is watching your butt and not the road he will go through you not into you

i also had a lady who charged in front of me then cut me off and then stopped a complete stop

she was lucky there wasn't anything on the road such as sand, water, ice or anything else that would have made me slide becouse i would have gone through her

i have been driving taxi for 20 years and i have seen lots of people being pulled out of wrecks from cars hitting them in the rear and going to the hospital

Of course, but the cause of the accident won't be tailgating. You cannot "go through" another vehicle from the position of a tailgator. Even if the tailgator fails to break at all, he is simply too close for the vehicle in front to have time to create enough of a speed diffarential to cause a serious accident. It is plain and simple physics.
Infact it is situations where people are not tailgating that results in rear enders where people get pulled out of wrecks. Because the larger the gap, the greater the potential speed diffirential between the front and rear cars.

No, I saw that part and totally agree with you. My grandfather was one of the most 'courteous' drivers I knew, always letting someone in, or allowing them to turn across traffic... whatever it was, he let the other driver go first. When I started driving I used to do the same as he did, thinking I was spreading some 'good karma' or something like that. But after time it seemed that people were just becoming more and more ignorant, making me feel like an ass just for letting them 'in'. Now, I won't let anyone have a break for their life. I am definitely an aggressive driver with enough road rage to cover three states worth of drivers. I ride the fast lane, usually averaging 90mph, and feel that the left lane is MINE! I especially like the people who 'see you coming' and wait until the last possible moment to pull out in front of me... those people are 'very special' to me because at that point, they'd better hope I can't get around them because when I do... well, let's just say that during the past three years my wife and I have counted three cars that actually skidded off the road due to some of my fancy 'maneuvers' like cutting in front of them and pulling the e-brake... that's one of my favorites since at that point, I have no brake lights.
I know, I sound like a dick and it's wrong to do I guess, but I've had enough. If I am going to have to be forced into wage slavery and partake in the daily rat race, get the f**k out of my way or show me some courtesy/respect... otherwise I have no problems 'taking you out' since as far as I am concerned, the name of my car insurance company is "YO FAULT"! Guess what my policy number is... I can give it to you using only one finger... a special finger reserved just for a**holes.

Not necessarily... but it would 'seem' that way. The money part, well, I could make a million dollars a year but if I had to go through what I do now every single day... my attitude would still be the same. We were given life to enjoy it and better the lives of our fellow men... not to make oil companies, electric companies, and just about every other 'company' rich. I was not put here to do the bidding of others, but that is my only choice if I wish to survive (and I actually have it pretty good compared to MANY others throughout the world who don't even have a meal to enjoy, but that's all a different subject). Getting back to the point, I look at it more like stunt car driving... I'm prepared for the possibility of a wreck and my actions should make the other driver aware that I am going to cause some harm to the both of us if they don't 'yield' to me... I've seen people walk away from 70 mph plus wrecks but get killed in what would seem to be a minor wreck, where all cars involved weren't going above fifty. My point danielost is this... act like an ass, get treated like an ass. If pulling in front of me just to get in to the Wendy's drive through is important enough to you to risk your life then you might get what you ask for. All I can say is people are lucky I don't have a full size pick up anymore... know what I mean? Anymore I see all of us as cattle, myself included, so what will be will be. Aside from missing my wife there isn't a damn thing this planet has to offer me that would make me 'regret' death. Sometimes I think taking that next step would be much better than participating in this joke we call life. But then again, life (or death in this case)on the 'other side' may not be any better.
As far as I know, no one from those three cars died, they just had a wake up call. Do I care? NO. Do they care about me when they start all of their idiocy? Obviously not... or they wouldn't do what they do to invite my wrath, know what I mean.

i may have saved a life by being hit by another car

the person in the other car ran a red light after i had started to turn left i was able to get turned enough so that the other car bounced off of me instead of smashing me

a person from a third car was able to run over and stop the other car

turned out that the person in the other car had passed out before running the light

if the car hadn't been slowed down and stopped it would have continued down the road which had an up bump in it makeing it impossible for anyone on the other side to see the car coming it was doin at least 60

Hehehe, thats funny. I won't usually bother trying to teach manners to other drivers because i know that they are all too stupid to understand my point, also there are plenty more fools to take their place even if they did get the message.

I had a prick pull in front of me right at the red light and i nearly ran into the back of him. I gave him the finger and he got out of his car and wanted to fight me!
and i'm like, what the, your the assehole not me! This just shows how truely confused some drivers are about right and wrong.

And if i decided to fight him then i'm either going to end up in a police station if i win the fight or in hospital if i loose the fight, neither of which is worth it for some brainless twit.

i may have saved a life by being hit by another car

Nice story. Don't get too carried away tho, if you ever deliberately cause a collision to save somones life, no one will come to your rescue when faced with the insurance company and the panel beater! Sometimes even the police will be so stupid as to give you a fine as well if they don't happen to agree with your actions. There is no room for good samaratins in todays world.

obviously you cannot controll that particular situation, but where you see an opportunity to take action to save somones life... don't do it!

Hopefully one day the government will learn to support good samaratins who suffer loss to save a life, but until that day comes, screw em!
