I saw a mouse
tonight
he ran across the back
of the sink
quickly
then pause
looked at me
stuck his nose
in empty bud
can
then ran behind
the plates
in the drainer
he was small
maybe
some teenager
looking for thrills
my apartment
is probably an
entry level
game
I would work
harder to
detour his lust
for adrenaline
and I have added a
few boxes and
unwashed glasses
assorted plates
and flatware
on the counter
but his dexterity
a match
for my slothful
efforts
tomorrow I will
wash the dishes
and mop the floors
vac the rug
and change the course
I think his family
has box seats
but
