I am weary
of emotion
the colors red
white and
blue
fail to move me
to starry eyed
delight
I like the
fireworks on the
4th
but otherwise
I live somewhere
else
if this one or that
one
becomes president
czar
prime minister
or bill gates
it changes nothing
in my dirty little
fishbowl
if kerry or bush or Churchill
or ghandi
rule the day
Lloyd will still smoke crack
with Kathy
cindy will still have the unending
pain in her head
maryjo will still have to
wipe her mother’s ass
newspaper not towels
and upper middle class liberals
will still shake their heads
at ungrateful poverty
wondering why
but I do like the
