Star Ship Questions

Ok so had corvettes with 12hp's then I build a shipyard and still come out with 12hp's? I thought they were supposed to give star ship bonus?

I also had battle axes that come out with 40hp's, but the I legue whos a minor civ and Im ahead tech can make them with 120 hp's like in one turn so i cant take over their planet? Whats up with that? I thought the comp wasnt supposed to cheat or anything in this game?

I also researched more techs to give my ships more hp's and on the screen it says +10, is that 10% or 10 hp's? Even after it was reasearched I noticed no increase in my corvertte or battle axe ships.

Ok well I destroyed one of my shipyards and built some corvettes they came out at 13 hp's, then on another planet with a shipyard they came out with 13 too, so does the shipyard just make then build faster?

Starship Bonus improves the ship's Attack and Defense, AFAICT.

The I-League get's it's high HP because of it's ability bonuses (AI gets the 10 points to spend at the start of the game, just like you do, and the I-League is an associate race, that is a major race that doesn't count towards the winning conditions) and it's political party (War Party gets +50% HP).

I'm sure the shipyard and other ship building improvements only affect what gets built afterward, it does not affect ships already in existence, thus you can have the same ship type with different stats, without ever seeing combat.
