Falcon

Introducing the blood poet

FALCON

This morning, above the overpass,
I saw a falcon
Chase a blackbird off its wire.
It sat there, hunched,
A Predator eyeing traffic.

My spirit is stifled
By its trappings.
I feel my anger growing
At the pain in my body
At my drug-fogged mind.
There are a thousand reasons
I should fail,
Yet I have endured long enough.

So I will burst these bonds,
Feel the freedom flowing in my veins.
I will chase the demons from my wire,
And sit there, brooding, hunched,
A Predator
Eyeing traffic.
