I am not safe

I am not safe
in the daylight
manicured hands
extended from
white cuff linked
shirts
make my palms
sweat

I am leery of
suits
like armor
cloaked in
legitimacy
they portent
as surely
as oracle
vision in some
tragedy

I move at night
suits go to bed
when I walk
cracks from the
day
become crevasses
littered with
the unblessed
unholy
dirty
bottom

creatures of the
night
harbor secret
solutions to
unspeakable
desires
we trade in
honesty the real
you
the one that whispers
what you want
no one to
hear

mercy
the light
but night is
where
I
crawl
lurk
hunt
and keep secrets
well
